Cage, Darryl Palumbo, & the Plug Awards | pics

Cage played the Plug Awards last night too. (Feb 2, 2006)

"Darryl [Palumbo] is a really good friend of mine; he's like one of my best friends at this point, and we have a project together. Shoot Frank is the name of the group, and we gave the song on my new album the same title just to keep it in people's heads. Frank is my stepfather. But that was the concept with this record: more honesty, brutal honesty. The truth hit me like a snakebite, and that's all I can do now. And that dude was a big influence on me in making this record because, you know, he's dying of Crohn's disease, and he's had like four major surgeries, more than a foot of intestine pulled out, and here was this dude who was struggling and trying to stay alive, and I just didn't give two fucks about my life. Seeing how he was struggling to live when I really didn't feel like I had much to live for, and the way he translated his emotion and pain through music was a huge influence on me, and I'm trying to convey that to the listener." [said Cage to Popmatters]

I love Darryl a lot. Glassjaw changed my life, and I haven't heard him talk about his disease much, so I'm reluctant to bring this up, but according to his Head Automatica's official website his Crohn's isn't life-threatening. I have heard him say, a few times, that it isn't. That doesn't mean it's not horrible and that I don't feel for the man, but I'm so sick of the people around him trying to make him seem like this pillar of suffering just to validate their own projects. I saw it happen all the time when he was in the thick of it with Glassjaw and now this tool is doing it. Save Frank, Spare Darryl, Shoot Cage. Such is my motto.

Woa, woa, woa bro you need to calm down.. Yea Crohns isn't life threatening but he still went through a lot of shit & although you don't die from it, it sometimes feels like you could. This guy is obviously friends with Daryl ergo the side project that he's doing with him; just because other people might have exploited Crohns to sound more threatening to get good PR about their band, who are you to say that he's doing the same. It sounds to me that he's had an eye-opening experience through his work with Daryl & is just expressing a general concern & appreciation for him.

just saying bro, he doesn't just have crohn's, he has hemophilia AND crohn's which is rare as fuck and a life threatening combination so get your facts straight, cage had fans and was making music before he even met daryl and i doubt he's interested in using one of his best friends as a sale ploy so kick rocks

Think about this. Mr. Palumbo(I refer to him in this manner due to the fact that I do not know him personally)has released numerous albums with at least two projects(that I know of), All of which, with the exception of popaganda by Head Automatica were in my opinion amazing lyrically, musically and of course vocally. He has provided a body of work that will be enjoyed for decades to come, all while fighting crohns. Shit I DONT have crohn's, and haven't done a goddamn thing with my music. Also, fuck, the guy posting his project isn't a doctor, he is watching his friend battle this hellish disease, it can seem like impending death(My Father suffers from Crohn's). No need to hate, participate. Go Darryl.
