Excited to see the Lips...but why Webster??? They can easily sell Hammerstein, Roseland, Nokia, etc
Posted by sdaw | February 28, 2006 11:06 AM
They are playing webster Hall because they wanted to play a relatively small venue. They are playing Bimbo's in San Fran as well. It is a small tour before the real one kicks off in the Summer and Fall

toronto, is there a toronto date?!
Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2006 11:46 AM
dude, where do you get this stuff from? You're awesome
Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2006 3:13 PM
This band isn't worth $35. Hasn't been for at least the last five years now.
Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2006 3:41 PM
What band would you deign to pay $35 for, o wise one?
Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2006 3:42 PM
they might not be worth $35, but people will be paying much more than that on ebay
Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2006 4:30 PM
They're worth whatever the asshole standing outside Webster on the night of the show can get for them.
Posted by Dylan | February 28, 2006 4:40 PM
the flaming lips are on the shortlist of bands to se before i die, but webster hall bites! will have to try and track them down at sxsw.
Posted by camille | February 28, 2006 5:48 PM
Very few bands covered by this site are worth $35, including the Flaming Lips.
Posted by The Wise One | February 28, 2006 6:29 PM
The Flaming Lips aren't actually listed as playing at SXSW but if you go here: http://www.donewaiting.com/sxsw/archives/2006/01/flaming_lips_at.php#comments you can read about the rumors of them possibly playing it.

Got em! Both Nights! What a pain in the ass to get though. Ticketweb sucks it always crashes
Posted by pete | March 1, 2006 12:27 PM
I've gone through the ticket-buying process about 15 times so far, and it's crashed every time.
Time for a new system, Ticketweb! This one's awful.
Posted by patrick | March 1, 2006 12:33 PM
THANKS so much for the heads up!!! I scored tickets for Sat!!!
SO HAPYY!!!!!!
TICKETWEB STILL SUCKS THOUGH!
Posted by brian | March 1, 2006 12:41 PM
I got mine for friday after a 40 minute duel with Ticketwebs server.
Posted by dan | March 1, 2006 12:47 PM
same experience here. several tries, 40 minutes in they got through, and my credit card company says there are 3 authorizations on my account even though I only wanted 1 pair.
Why is it that other e-commerce sites can handle massive demand and Ticketweb always crashes anytime a popular concert goes on sale? This has to be incredibly poor programming and server support on their site; it is an embarrassment for them and for the bands who sell through them.
Posted by birdboy | March 1, 2006 1:04 PM
They're still avaiable for both nights. I guess the ticket price did play a role. They should be gone soon though!
Posted by brassbonanza | March 1, 2006 1:05 PM
I don't think it's the ticket price as much as the server crashes that's keeping them available. $35 will look pretty cheap for these in a few hours.
Posted by birdboy | March 1, 2006 1:13 PM
Hmmm...The site never said that I got tickets. It crashed every time I tried.
However, I now have a confirmation email.
And my card has been charged five times.

Both nights are sold out!

I talked to my credit card company about the overcharges. They are probably authorizations, not actual charges, and the credit card company will put extra charges in suspension, you will only have to pay once. What a major pain in the ass; but at least we got tickets. They are gone now.
Posted by birdboy | March 1, 2006 1:38 PM
I got mine but I also was charged for 5 other separate orders of 4... nearly $1000! And I still haven't actually received a single confirmation email yet. Amazing.
On the phone now still trying to clear it up... they are so weak.
Posted by BD | March 1, 2006 1:39 PM
yea, i guess this happened to most of us. entered my billing info like 15 times, got charged twice and never knew it. call ticketweb to find out if you actually got tickets or not. and if you got too many orders ticketweb will cancel them, which will then release more to the public... 1-866-468-7619.
Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2006 1:50 PM
i knew they'd sell out while i was at class. if anybody has an extra ticket email cwlust@yahoo.com
Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2006 2:09 PM
Er, if anyone accidentally ordered more than one set of tickets, don't cancel them, I'd be happy to buy them.
I was supposed to pick them up for myself & friends and I missed out.
I'm looking for 3 tickets for either night, but I'd be happy with 2.
I'd pay a small premium over what you paid for your help.
Thanks much.
(I'll just go duck down in the corner now while people throw things at me for begging for tickets)

ugh. i wanted to go to this.

the same ticketweb crap happened to me with the clap your hands sale. i never got any confirmation emails, i got charged for 4 sets on my visa, and a week later, i got credits for all 4 (and ended up with no tickets!).
they may not be mere authorizations -- so hope it doesn't go past your limit and screw you credit-wise...
Posted by Qbertplaya | March 1, 2006 2:18 PM
I was on ticketweb at 12 exactly and after about a 20 min process I got to the payment screen...I entered my credit card info in twice...was scared if I entered it anymore I wouldn't be able to cover it if there were multiple charges. When I didn't get a confirmation, I called ticket web and they told me that there were no purchases on my card and now they're sold out...what a sucky site that is...
Posted by AS | March 1, 2006 2:34 PM
Tickets for the friday show have been re-appearing on ticketweb for the last few minutes (2:48PM EST).
It's probably due to duplicate order cancelations like others have said. I managed to get the tickets that I need.
If you missed out, keep checking.
Posted by AMP | March 1, 2006 2:52 PM
Still tickets available for Friday. Just got two!!!
Posted by adrien | March 1, 2006 2:56 PM
F#*&ing Ticketweb.
I went through that whole song and dance online, got charged and have no tickets to show for it.
AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
Posted by Poor Man | March 1, 2006 3:24 PM
...and to add insult to injury, the real show I was looking to buy today (so secret I don't think BV even knows about it) isn't uplinked to Ticketweb, even tho the band says it's supposed to be. I am working with the label to see what's going on.
Once I get my tickets I will let everyone in on this one.

eBay going Price is up to $90-100 for "Buy It Now" Tickets to the shows.
Ticket Web is HORRIBLE.

good luck everyone

i'd be willing to buy two tickets off of somebody who got charged for multiple tix
email tomford@gmail.com
Posted by tomford | March 1, 2006 5:39 PM
I too got fucked by Ticketweb. I got charged for 2 tickets but on the last "processing...." screen it told me the show was sold out. This made ticketmaster look classy....good job Ticketweb.
Posted by William Lupo | March 1, 2006 6:57 PM
this same bullshit happened with the Beck show at Hiro Ballroom. Ticketweb needs to go away. If they cant handle the bandwidth they shouldnt be in business.
Posted by Juggy Gales | March 2, 2006 1:27 AM
Yeah, apparently getting charged by Ticketweb isn't enough to get tickets. I called them this morning, and apparently, unless you get a confirmation email, you don't have tickets. There goes 45 minutes of entering and re-entering my credit card info down the drain. What a fucking joke.
Posted by Dylan | March 2, 2006 11:05 AM
to those of your who got charged, but didnt get a confirmation, did ticketweb refund your money? i have yet to get money credited back to my account
Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2006 1:42 PM
I didn't get a confirmation email though I finishd all process yesterday.
So,I called Ticketweb to confirm my tickets this afternonn, then they said I could get all tickets what I purchesed. And they sent me a confirmatin email soon.

I was told it would take "1-2 days" to get my money back. It's day 2. Haven't gotten my money back. I argued that was fucked up. It fell on sympathetic, yet numb ears.
On one side I feel bad for the poor schmucks who work the customer service phones for them. It's not their fault they have a crap job for a crap company. On the other, fuck'em. Satan needs the souls.
"They bought their tickets. They knew what they were getting into. I say, let'em crash."

when the same ticketweb bullshit happened with the CYHSY sale in january, my visa got refunded 3 days later for the 4 sets of tickets i got charged for (and never received any). good thing it all got taken care of during the same billing cycle...
as much as i hate ticketbastard, i have never experienced as much crap as i have with ticketweb for the crazy sales like CYHSY, the FLs, or beck. ticketweb needs help...
Posted by Qbertplaya | March 3, 2006 10:15 AM
what's fucked up is that ticketweb is owned by ticketmaster. I remember calling and complaining after the Beck sale, and they told me that they were working on the system and they knew it had problems. Almost a year later and it still is awful.
Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2006 10:35 AM
has ANYONE gotten their money back yet?
Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2006 10:53 AM
While I hate to add fuel to this fire, your real beef should be with your credit card companies. If you have been overcharged you can put the amounts into suspense and these amounts should not affect your credit card limit or finance charges. My credit card company (no angels, to be sure, but fairly easy to work with) has not even posted the legitimate charge, much less the additional 2 authorizations which were mistakes by TicketWeb; and there is no hit to my available credit.
Ticketweb does indeed suck, and those of you who didn't get tickets due to their GROSS INCOMPETENCE in systems programming are indeed unfortunate; but the credit-card issue can be resolved with your issuing bank or you should consider changing cards.
Posted by birdboy | March 3, 2006 11:16 AM
Ticket Web CHARGED my credit card for the tune of $1200 for an actual purchase of 4 tickets!
