As reported on Boing Boing in November, indie labels are offering a great incentive to buy your music on vinyl - free MP3s. Pitchfork reported on Merge doing this. Saddle Creek is doing it too. And like EFF says, it's "Quite a stark contrast to the likes of EMI and Sony-BMG, whose copy-protected CDs are stopping music fans from getting their CDs into their iPods."
Saddle Creek's Two Gallants LP page says, "Each LP comes with a code allowing you to download the full record one time only, so you can enjoy your LP on your portable MP3 player!"

That's the best idea I've ever heard.

Here's an article about this phenomenon:

Personally I think it's a great idea, too. It saves one the trouble of ripping the vinyl to mp3.
