Shane McGowan DJing Southpaw - St Patricks Day
After the Pogues show at Nokia Theatre on St. Patrick's Day, Shane McGowan is (hopefully) heading over to Park Slope to DJ Southpaw. Tickets for this celebrity DJ event are $35 and on sale now. The Brooklyn party also celebrates the 2nd year of BP Fallon's Death Disco.

Wow. Has he sobered up? This is cool. But there is no way I can imagine him making it. I have a hard time believing the Saturday show will work out.

i'd say there is a small chance he'll make it. when the Popes would play small shows (without Shane) at the Irish Rover in Astoria a few years ago, Shane was always rumored to make it - and then would make it (and sing several songs).

isnt the big story here that a dj gig costs $35?

Shane MacGowan has never missed a DJ gig at Death Disco. He has triumphantly DJed in Ireland at ten Death Discos in Dublin and Belfast over the past three years, even DJing at his first one from a wheelchair [he'd broken his leg]. As well as being probably the greatest songwriter that Ireland has ever produced, he's a brill DJ who drives the crowd wild with a vibey choice of eclectic music and a bandleader's eye on the audience. Yes, I'm biased - I'm proud to say I work with Death Disco and we love The Soul Of Ireland that is Shane MacGowan. Shane rocks. And he's a lovely man, too. Happy St Patrick's Night to him - and you, too!

my mate swing went to one of the show in belfast awhile ago. shane arrived 15 minutes before closing time and the first tune he dropped was a rebel song by 'the wolfe tones'. there was a mini riot and, according to swing, the boul shane was hit over the head with an empty jack daniels bottle that had been on a table as a candle holder. anyway, the row subsided and the management allowed shane to give it another go on the turntables. at which point shane starts spinning...the wolfe tones, and you can guess what happens next...
