how were sigur t-shirt prices?

Posted by robert duffy | February 10, 2006 6:23 AM

wait, why would they have billy joel's prices in canadian dollars?

Posted by wes | February 10, 2006 8:07 AM

Sigur Ros was amazing last night though I enjoyed the Beacon show more. Nice photos. You must've been one of the guys running up to the stage to take photos half the concert.

Posted by Bao | February 10, 2006 8:28 AM

um, gee, nice photos, but were you one of the jackasses that stood at the foot of the stage during the show, constantly moving around? fucking annoying. at $58 a ticket plus fees, i really don't like having to watch you clowns snap pictures for your little blogs. you guys suck.

Posted by pc | February 10, 2006 8:35 AM

robert - I know the handmade t-shirt were $40. I didn't see the others

wes - American dollars

Bao - thanks (but no running to the stage for half the concert - just during songs 2, 3 & 4)

Posted by brooklynvegan | February 10, 2006 8:40 AM

pc - my seat wasn't close enough to the stage to know if there were people running around, but the show was 2 hours long and I was given permission to take pics at the stage for 20 minutes at the most.

Posted by brooklynvegan | February 10, 2006 8:45 AM

awesome show!

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2006 9:06 AM

did you have on the knitted cap and kinda white long-sleeve shirt? 20 minutes? whatever.

Posted by pc | February 10, 2006 9:14 AM

Sick, sick show. Amina? I mean, uh, incredible.

Posted by PoPo | February 10, 2006 9:30 AM

The normal shirts were $25 and the hand-screened ones were $40.

Posted by Mike Neuman | February 10, 2006 9:34 AM

I can't believe the price of the Billy Joel t-shirts.

Posted by uwmryan | February 10, 2006 9:44 AM

this show was insufferably boring. someone has to be the one to shout that the emperor has no clothes, so i guess it will be me.

What did they play on Conan on Wednesday? Is it on the internet?

Posted by c | February 10, 2006 10:25 AM

i agree. the beacon show was much better. loved the horns though. also loved that the setlist was different than past shows. hated the venue! the acoustics way up in the 301 sect. were horrible! everything was so muffled.

Nothing could've topped off a wondrous evening of brass band Icelandic rock better than walking out next to a grinning and pixie-coiffed Nat Port. What a cutie!

T's right - worst fucking venue ever. i love this band, but never again.

To the goth-looking dude in the top hat who puked up something foul in Section 204, Row M during the opener: you suck, never go to a show again.

Sigur Ros were amazing, though, but I agree on the venue (not the best).

Posted by patrick | February 10, 2006 11:05 AM

woah. it's like Groundhog Day all over again.

the beacon show was definitely one of my top 5 concerts of last year. last night wasnt

as good, but it was still fantastic.

im no longer jealous of the horns section they had for their homecoming show in iceland and despite the slipups and forgotten lyrics, hearing staralfur live was awesome.

what was up with that squeaking sound? it was awful...poor jonsi

Posted by rad | February 10, 2006 11:08 AM

bloglifters of the world, unite & take over

Posted by cranky | February 10, 2006 11:14 AM

the squeaking sound was a killer, but hearing jonsi explain how difficult it was to count out beats because of it was priceless.

my review will be up on stereogum later today, go by and check it out.

not as good as beacon, but still incredible.

Posted by Amrit | February 10, 2006 11:15 AM

But were there any Natalie Portman sightings? Gawker would love to know.

Posted by paul | February 10, 2006 11:32 AM

yes i sighted her
she was eating some funyuns

Posted by uncle jilm | February 10, 2006 11:36 AM

the acoustics were off, the crowd was rude and interrupted their best song. i saw them in hawaii last august and they were so much better. granted, i don't think it's possible for the band to actually play a BAD show, but this one was certainly disappointing

Posted by marika | February 10, 2006 11:43 AM

maybe what was sucky was the fact that the band is just a tired clump of soporific snorers

Posted by reginald burger | February 10, 2006 12:26 PM

last night's show was amazing, but i also liked the beacon one better, mostly due to the vibe and audience. the audience yelling seemed a little absurd to me -- i mean, this isn't a bloc party show.

btw, i love your pics, bveg.

Posted by natey | February 10, 2006 1:25 PM

this msg show was so much better than the beacon shows. the brass section?! they haven't ever played with a brass section in america before! the sound was a lot better at MSG too. i say too bad to the people who were lazy and ended up with shitty seats.

Posted by melissa | February 10, 2006 3:13 PM

the crowd was heinous. really rude. i have always, whether at a concert/sporting event/random setting, wanted to just punch the guy who yells "WHOOOOOOOOOO!" right in the throat.

especially when the band went quiet for that 15/20 second point in the middle of the song (can't remember which).

BUT, i have to admit. during that part when they went quiet. did anyone else hear the guy make the tongue-rolling Chewbacca yell? that was pretty fucking funny. and i really have no idea why.

Posted by john | February 10, 2006 7:50 PM

I heard the Chewbacca as well and was in tears!!!! My friend said he saw Jesse Adams the comedian in the crowd and that is one of the voices he does in his act! We are still laughing!

Posted by davidaames | February 11, 2006 7:01 PM

jesse adams blows. ball cancer is more amusing than that guy.

Posted by chip | February 11, 2006 7:38 PM

Concert was amazing as usual, I also was more of a fan of the Beacon Show but they are great where and whenever. I also am more of a fan of underground comedy and alternative stuff but have seen Jesse Adams in NYC at The Improv and he is really good but the ball comment is funny!

Posted by Carrie | February 12, 2006 12:45 AM

Does anyone remember who the opener was for the Beacon show?

Posted by Tim | February 12, 2006 10:23 PM

Didn't see Natalie Portman but did see Eliot Spitzer right outside the exit.

Posted by dug | February 12, 2006 11:52 PM

tim: amina opened and played strings at the beacon (same as msg).
