Whitney Museum Biennial 2006 | Daniel Johnston
"Whitney Biennial 2006: Day for Night opens March 2, filling the Whitney with the work of some of the most creative contemporary artists in the world. This year’s Biennial breaks boundaries in several new ways. In addition to the list of artists previously announced, this Biennial includes many more artists who are involved through special projects within the exhibition itself. A show-within-a-show, the Wrong Gallery’s Down by Law, features 54 artists, living and dead, whose work explores the dark side of the American psyche. Another 180 artists are contributing panels to create a monumental Peace Tower that is going up in the Sculpture Court, directly in front of the museum. Taken as a whole, these—and several other—projects and programs have the effect of widening the exhibition to include works by hundreds more artists, expanding the horizons of the Biennial in a variety of ways. The 2006 Biennial, curated by Chrissie Iles and Philippe Vergne, runs at the Whitney from March 2 through May 28." [Whitney Museum]
This year's list of artists includes Tony Conrad, Momus, Daniel Johnston, and Jim O’Rourke. The Melvins are performing on May 17th.

DANIEL JOHNSTON
" It's not much of an exaggeration to say that next month is Daniel Johnston Month in New York. The Biennial begins on March 2, with more than a dozen of Mr. Johnston's recent hallucinatory pen and Magic Marker drawings on view. On March 16, an exhibition of his artwork stretching back to the 1970's opens at the Clementine Gallery in Chelsea. And on the last day of the month, an award-winning documentary about him, 'The Devil and Daniel Johnston,' will have its premiere in New York and Los Angeles." [NY Times]

Hi. Have you ever considered showing the work of Niles Fuller? He was a classmate of NY's Mark Seliger of Rolling Stone Magazine fame. His lead-up portrait of Daniel Johnston was used in the recent documentary and the final take has toured Texas several times.
"Niles Fuller" is very Google-able.
