Battle @ Rothko, NYC | pics

Battle @ Rothko

I haven't really been able to get into Battle. That didn't change after seeing the UK band live at Rothko in NYC Monday night (March 13, 2006). They actually seemed good on stage, and some of their songs are catchy - I just wasn't feeling it.

Battle @ Rothko

This is where I was after Guillemots @ Mercury Lounge.

i like Battle's recorded stuff, but i agree, the live show just didn't do it for me. i saw them at mercury lounge, and it was way too loud to enjoy (never thought i'd say that). and his voice didn't come through like i hoped it would. unfortunately disappointing. i wonder what other people thought of the set. maybe it was just me? but Levy kicked ass.

I thought BATTLE were great. The only other band that had a spark of something alive about them was FIVE O'CLOCK HEROS. LEVY and FAVORITE SONS were very bland indeed! BATTLE were loud, but not in a bad way.

The Mercury show was a lot better compared to the Rothko show. Poor guys had tech problems. The intro to "Sit With Me" being replayed three times was pretty fun.
