Brakes & Young Knives tonight | SXSW in NYC continued

The Young Knives The Young Knives were one of many, and one of the best, 'hot' British bands I saw at SXSW. They didn't blow me away, but I left happy. Think Art Brut meets Revenge of the Nerds (Art Brut was headlining the show I saw them at actually). "In their home country, The Knives have often been compared to punk pioneers Gang of Four, and the resemblance is not entirely a coincidence; the band was originally discovered by Go4 guitarist Andy Gill, who helped produced some of the tracks on the band's latest EP, 'Junky Music Make My Heart Beat Faster.'" [Live Daily]

Brakes are the band that has an ex-British-Sea-Powerer. After the Plan B, Boy Kill Boy, Towers of London and The Rakes show at Bowery Ballrooom tonight, Brakes and The Young Knives are playing a show at the Annex (doors at midnight). $6.00 to get in, or FREE to the first 150 people to come from Bowery Ballroom (leave your wristband on).

Central Village has more info on post-SXSW events in NYC. And there's the Australian shows.
