Corinne Bailey Rae @ Mercury Lounge, NYC | pics
Four weeks ago Arctic Monkeys still held the #1 spot on the UK album charts. They were knocked to #2 on Feb. 26th by Jack Johnson. Jack was knocked to #2 on March 5th by Corinne Bailey Rae. Corinne earned her #1 spot by selling over 100,000 albums in the first week. Currently she's #2, having been knocked down one spot by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. Last night (March 13) she played between the Grates & Guillemots @ Mercury Lounge in NYC as part of the unofficial pre-SXSW festivities going on in our city right now. I'm not a huge fan of her songs, but her voice and band made it a show well worth showing up to.

The first time I heard any of Corinne's music was when I was watching the Soul Music video channel, and "Put Your Records on" had came on. I was going to change it because I didn't know who it was. Then I thought that I should watch it because I LOVE soul music. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. A couple of days later, I heard, "Like A Star" It was the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my entire life. After that, I instantly fell in love with her music and writing style. I went straight to the internet and looked for tour dates and photo galleries. Then, the same day I saw a special for her CD on the same channel that lasted about an hour and a half. Her music touched me so much that I cried after every song. Not every person can write songs like that. I am now officially a HUGE FAN!!! of Corinne Bailey Rae. I just bought the CD today and haven't listened to much of anything else. Corinne has inspired me to improve my poetry and writing style. She has also inspired me to be myself and just do it. One of these days I would love to be a singer, but I never had the confidence until now. Thank you Corinne Bailey Rae.

I seen Corrine today for the first time on the Oprah Winfrey show, I'm usually not into pop music. I've always been into the jam bands and some R&B. I was totally blown away by, (put your record on). I'm going out tomorrow to buy her CD. Not to mention that I had to call my 22year old son, so he could watch her on the later showing of Oprah.
Not to mention she must be the hottest lady in the entertainment world. Thanks Corrine I look forward to more.

I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH CORINNE BAILEY RAE. I FIRST HEARD HER EARLY IN THE MORNING BEFORE RISING FOR WORK. I THOUGHT I WAS DREAMING! THIS ANGELIC VOICE WAS FLOATING IN THE AIR, THROUGH MY HEAD, I HUGGED THE PILLOW AND OPENED MY EYES EXPECTING TO SEE HER. THE RADIO WAS ON WAKING ME UP! IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN A BETTER MORNING. I WAS FRANTIC TO KNOW WHO SHE WAS AND HOW I COULD FIND THE CD. THE RADIO STATION DJ WOULD NOT ANSWER, AND I ASKED EVERYONE I KNEW WHO SHE MIGHT BE. ONCE I FOUND HER CD, I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND A BEATIFUL FACE AND BODY TO GO WITH THIS QUINTESSENTIALLY SOOTHING, SEXY, SENSUOUS VOICE. I PREDICT THAT SHE WILL BE AROUND FOR A VERY LONGTIME. I AM ALREADY A DEDICATED FAN TO THIS BEAUTIFUL WOMAN. YOU "MUST" LISTEN TO HER.

My brother gave me copy of Corrine's cd, and not knowing who she was, I put it aside. My brother loves jazz. Not my personal favorite. One day, I stumbled upon it and decided to listen to it. What to my surprise, I was totally blown away! Corrine is my new "favorite" artist now. I've never heard such beauty in lyrics. She promotes an "angelic" sound when she sings, or should I say, "lets the notes flow." I am amazed at the sweet innocense she projects from her soul. I do not have a "favorite" song. They all are wonderful! I hope she will come to Baltimore soon. I can't wait to see her in person! If I could meet her, that would be another blessing. God bless you, Corrine for being so talented and sharing it with us!
