I can't figure out what to call the venue where ¡Forward, Russia! played their first U.S. gig during SXSW Wednesday night (March 15, 2006). The flyer says it was at 3601 S. Congress Building C. By day that's the "Design Center of Austin at Penn Field". That night they cleared most of the place out to make room for a well-attended party that ran from 11PM-4AM. The bands were Valhalla, Grand National, Cloud Room and ¡Forward, Russia!. It was a pain to get to; the cab driver couldn't even find it, but it was worth it.
According to the setlist, ¡FR! played 15 (pt 2), 18, 12, 7, 9, and 14. The band has so much energy, and the warehouse-like show setting was perfect. I saw them the next day again inside the Fader tent. A few others I know went on to see them a third time at Fox and Hound. That's where they played their official showcase with We Are Scientists. The Cobra Snake saw them too - somewhere completely different.
Their NYC show was cancelled, but I'm sure they'll be back to tour soon.

i saw them at the airport yesterday - darin and i felt pretty lame talking to them with our "¡!" pins on, but hey, one of their guys was wearing the t-shirt...

i was extremely disappointed by this band. they've got to work on it. the kids were cute and i appreciated their energy but the songs were instantly forgettable

Does anyone remember a band all wearing their own t-shirts before? I think it's kind of retarded.

I completely disagree with the two comments above. I saw them last night and they were great and really memorable. Who really cares about their t-shirts? I think it adds something to their stage presence.

have you noticed that cab drivers seemed to get lost in Austin fucking A LOT ?!?! wtf was up with that ???
~ I got ripped off twice, and my friends got lost for like two hours and had to change cabs 3 x to get to their destination.

YES - NONE of my cab drivers ever knew where to go. Someone said they thought maybe extra cab drivers were brought from out of town for SXSW.
