A lot of random shows I've been noticing now make more sense within the context of a festival. Islands at Avalon, Nouvelle Vague at Irving Plaza, and Ghostface at Nokia join Tea Leaf Green, Particle, Umprey's McGee and Blue's Traveler for three days of live music all over New York City....

for some reason i thought i heard/read something about scissor sisters being part of the whole jammies thing...didn't make much sense to me but maybe they'd be doing a few warmup shows prior to coachella and the depeche tour

Big Apple Goes Green

The sixth annual Jammys, an awards ceremony dedicated to the jam band scene, will kick off the inaugural Green Apple Music and Arts Festival on April 20th at New York City's The Theater at Madison Square Garden. From April 21st to 23rd, some forty-plus acts including BELA FLECK, GUSTER, TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS, the DRESDEN DOLLS and SCISSOR SISTERS, will converge in over twenty venues across the city for the first-ever GAMAF lineup. This year's Jammys will honor FRANK ZAPPA with a lifetime achievement award.

So what you're telling me is that I need to get out of New York in late April so as to avoid a jamband kid invasion...

Thankfully, Wilco's playing jersey on the 21st.

I wonder why the New York Philharmonic is listed. Will they be playing Grateful Dead covers?

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2006 2:57 PM

Yes, Phil plays Dead. Sorry couldn't resist.
