On March 23rd, 2006, Beastie Boys, THINKFilm and National CineMedia presented "an exclusive one-night only Big Screen Concerts presentation – An Awesome Night with Beastie Boys – featuring the Beastie Boys’ musical extravaganza 'AWESOME; I F*CKIN’ SHOT THAT!' and the world premiere of 'A Day in the Life of Nathanial Hörnblowér,' a 30-minute short (starring David Cross) created specifically for this one-time event, which was digitally shown on nearly 200 screens at 8:00pm local time at movie theaters across the country..... ”
BEASTIE BOYS IN UNION SQUARE THEATER | MARCH 23, 2006

I went to the March 23rd screening in Union Square. The Beastie Boys themselves stopped by during the end credits to lead a short, humourous, Q&A. Look up to see two pics from inside the movie theater.
If you love the Beastie Boys (I do), you'll probably love the movie. It's basically a concert video - filmed in 2004 @ MSG. What differentiates it from all other concert videos are the 50 audience-held cameras used to film it. Cameras kept rolling while participants walked through the stands, visited the concession stand, and went to the bathroom. It's all edited together to form one, sometimes shaky and grainy, concert video. Or as Modern Age says, "The result is a film that produces a true representation of a concert-going experience."
THE LINE TO SEE THE BEASTIE BOYS | SXSW 2006

The Beastie Boys were promoting the movie at this year's SXSW too. There was at least one moving screening, a formal Q&A (Keri and Amber were there), and a sort-of-secret show at Stubb's. A very long line (see above pic) scared me away, but My Old Kentucky Blog, An Aquarium Drunkard, Gorilla vs. Bear, and Aziz made it in.
"AWESOME; … I SHOT THAT!” begins its ongoing commercial engagements in select cities on March 31st"

If you had a badge you should've waited in line!!! Many people walked by and turned around scared of the long line but it really wasn't that bad.
I was pretty far back in line and all badgeholders made it in plus about half of the wrist band line. It was well worth the 20 minute wait...
