Jonah Matranga scheduled a last-minute, free show Saturday night (March 4, 2006) at Snitch – the club owned by ex-Fuel’s Brett Scallions, Slash, Duff, and others. In fact, Brett Scallions himself was supposedly playing later that night (I didn’t wait around to find out). It was a birthday party that someone asked Jonah to play only a few hours before his Mercury Lounge show the night before.
I was at the Mercury Lounge show too – that’s how I found out about this show. I’m not sure how everyone else found out (message board, myspace, word-of-mouth, etc..), but there was a decent size crowd for such a last minute show.
No Belle & Sebastian, New Pornographers, or Strokes for me last week, but I did see Jonah two nights in a row – he never disappoints (I actually sold my Saturday night Strokes tickets outside Hammerstein Ballroom before heading to Snitch).
