Jonah Matranga @ Snitch, NYC | pics
Jonah Matranga scheduled a last-minute, free show Saturday night (March 4, 2006) at Snitch - the club owned by ex-Fuel’s Brett Scallions, Slash, Duff, and others. In fact, Brett Scallions himself was supposedly playing later that night (I didn't wait around to find out). It was a birthday party that someone asked Jonah to play only a few hours before his Mercury Lounge show the night before.

I was at the Mercury Lounge show too - that's how I found out about this show. I'm not sure how everyone else found out (message board, myspace, word-of-mouth, etc..), but there was a decent size crowd for such a last minute show.

No Belle & Sebastian, New Pornographers, or Strokes for me last week, but I did see Jonah two nights in a row - he never disappoints (I actually sold my Saturday night Strokes tickets outside Hammerstein Ballroom before heading to Snitch). Setlist, reviews, etc.. in Jonah's message board. Pics of Ian Love and Jonah from the Mercury Lounge show coming later.

I second that. Jonah is at the top of his game. Wish I could have seen Maxwell's too.

BV -- do you know if most of the material he played is from onelinedrawing or far? He was so great.

The Merc show was the BEST SHOW I've seen in the past year. I left feeling tingly. Ian Love also kicked ass.

Rob: I think he played material from all of his projects. The music was great, right? And he is so down to earth. So real. Nuff said.

I really hope you aren't sarcastically comparing Jonah to Fuel and Creed. That would be unfortunate. And ignorant. Jonah blew the doors down at Snitch. Snatch. Twitch. Whatever.

Jonah could easily come back and headline Bowery if he promoted himself at all. He is a real musician. Thank you for playing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
