Kelley Polar @ Knitting Factory, NYC | pics

Kelley Polar played his/their first ever live show at Knitting Factory in NYC Wednesday night (March 8, 2006). Unfortunately it was a bit of a disaster....

Kelley Polar @ Knitting Factory

"The album is a lot of things, then, but none of them quite screams out to be played live in a noisy bar......For about ten minutes, this was great, a guy finally willing to bring ridiculous middle-school stagecraft to the club instead of guitars and drums. But it didn't stay dazzling for long; pretty soon, everyone was just onstage playing the songs and looking vaguely ridiculous......the scene on the floor of the Knit was straight-up yuppie's-night-out, people in casual-Friday clothes chattering loud enough to sometimes drown out the music". These quotes from Tom Breihan whose revew is so dead on you should just go read it.

The whole scene was just painful. I left early and went downstairs.

Mr. Vegan, I think you'd like to know that The Walkmen are having a pre-sale to their newly-added shows right NOW. I just bought some tickets for their NYC show... and I'm very happy. So happy, in fact, that I've decided to share this information with everyone (especially you, cuz you're nice).

[1st time seeing The Walkmen!! Kicketh ass!]
