On Friday I pointed out that Mo pointed out that kids music rules the charts. This weekend there were more detailed articles on the same subject in the NY Times (or read it in the Ledger without registering) and in the NY post and in the LA Times.

"The 'Kidz Bop' series — so far, nine numbered installments, two Christmas albums, a Halloween album and a DVD — sold more than seven million copies, according to the company. The last two releases had sales of more than 500,000 copies each, and 'Kidz Bop 9' had the best first week of any album in the series." [NY Times] (thx Sam)

Wow, what a week for upsets. Arctic Monkeys don't make it big in US, Crash wins best picture.

Next thing you know, Bush won't get impeached.

Seriously, check out that NY times article. It says that the music industry loves using kids as cheap labor and that they want kids to learn how to have a commodity fetish.

Even worse, the kids are singing remakes of Devo.

From the same NY Times article

"On March 14, the company will release a CD and accompanying DVD of children singing songs by the new wave group Devo called, "Devo 2.0: Q: Are We Not Kids? A: We Are Devo." (The band was involved with the project and plays on the album.)"

Man, the kids are really getting on my nerves.
