LAND OF TALK | MARCH 24, 2006

Dear Land of Talk,

Please don't take such long breaks between songs. It makes people angry, especially when you're limited to like a 40 minute set. Otherwise I love you.

If you don't have them already, Gorilla Vs. Bear posted two MP3s. The Noisettes played after Land of Talk.

Thanks for letting the world know about Land of Talk. It so happens I'll be in Montreal tomorrow, so I'm planning on catching one of their two shows. Like the commenters on Gorilla vs. Bear, I don't know why they're not bigger than they are. Maybe their just that new? I got into their songs after just one listen.

I'd like to encourage all bands to take less time between songs. Especially when playing to a room full (or half full, if they're lucky) of chatty, jaded New York hipsters. Say something between songs to add some levity to the moment. Learn to tune your instruments in a third of the time. Work together as a band to run one song right into the next. Please. If not I'm going to hang out at the bar during your set.

At the trash show about two weeks ago, the band played a really long set. at the end, the band ran out of material, and the singer just started singing random french songs.

it was awesome.

In that first pic, she kind of looks like Tina Holmes, who played Maggie on 6' Under. Not so much in other two pics.

"Applause Cheer Boo Hiss" is coming out next week on the April 4th according to Land of Talk's MySpace. At least in Canada (www.dependentmusic.com) that is - there's no info on it as of yet from Parasol (www.parasol.com). Does anyone know anything about the US release? ('cause I don't want to wait 4-6 weeks to get the disc from Dependent!)

They were selling "Applause Cheer Boo Hiss" at their March 9th show (and this one).

ahaaa. I guess they're starting mail order for the unfortunate souls that couldn't make it out to their shows (ahem, like me). There's still no info from Parasol (Dependent orders take 4-6 weeks to reach the US!) I'll just have to be patient! Thanks BV!

this is directed at Glenn. I play guitar and sing in land of talk. I'm very sorry if i upset you with my retarded tuning antics. it's been a lifelong struggle for me to write out a set list ahead of time. I prefer "let it happen". This becomes difficult when using 6 different tunings and only 2 guitars. hopefully soon we will be able to afford either more guitars or a guitar tech. Until then I will brush up on my tuning speed and foresight. Just to be clear: I am not being sarcastic. Out of curiosity- are you a jaded New York Hipster?

pertaining to the tuning speed issue between songs... I mean, you sound like my dad when he volunteers criticism on my shows... I mean I love my dad but he's more into bands like Three Dog Night, you know? Those guys can tune like machines (get it?) but certainly the Land of Talk tunes warrant some patience. Check out the new Puddle of Mudd - it's probably right up your alley.
