Neko Case did not perform with the New Pornographers at Nokia Theatre this weekend. She will play by herself two nights in a row at Webster Hall in April. Stream her new album, "Fox Confessor Brings The Flood", at AOL Music. Rolling Stone gave it three stars. The Guardian gave it four.

"... faster than the speed of gravity" ??? This chic needs to learn some physics...

Posted by Eduardo | March 7, 2006 8:20 PM

sharp criticism, fran. very intelligent.

'...faster than the speed of gravity' yeah, what's the problem, eduardo?

Posted by j | March 8, 2006 6:18 PM

Gravity does not have a speed.

Gravity doesn't have a speed.

firstly, ‘a widow’s toast’ is a fantastic, haunting song, beautifully poetic. ‘…but it’s faster, love, than you or me, faster than the speed of gravity. that’s how it catches you from falling. and how it always, always, always slips away.”

neko case is an artist.

secondly, ‘the speed of gravity’ is a legitimate term used in mathematical physics, defined as the speed at which gravitational radiation propagates, or the speed at which changes in location of a mass are propagated to other masses. albert einstein’s theory of relativity is based upon the assumption that gravity travels at the same speed as light.

gay album featuring gayer science

"never underestimate the power of human stupidity." - robert anson heinlein (he was a science fiction writer, fran)

j, thanks for the explanation. I need to learn more physics then, but I don't have the time... anyway I doubt she wrote the lyrics being aware of Einstein's theory of relativity.

Ah and don't get me wrong. I listened to the whole album on aol.com and it's nice. Not my style, but cool to listen to.

yeah, it's a sweet album. And the science bit is pretty hot. See, gravity travels - as far as we know - instantaneously, making it the fastest thing in the universe. Neko, you rock. That, or you're clueless, but I can't believe that because the rest of your music is good.
