Pitchfork drops "Intonation", gets Jens Lekman
Pitchfork just announced the dates (July 29-30) of the "2006 Pitchfork Music Festival" in Chicago. Tickets go on sale Monday to the two day event that includes a performance by Jens Lekman. Hopefully Jens will tour a little while he's in this country. Other confirmed Pitchfork acts are Mission of Burma, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Mountain Goats, The National, and Hot Machines. Last year Pitchfork's Intonation Festival was blamed for stealing all the good acts away from the Village Voice Siren Festival in Brooklyn. Revenge is sweet.
Lollapalooza is a few days later in the same city.

I wouldn't call it revenge- Pitchfork firing this dude while the Voice keeps him on just makes the Voice look unprofessional in comparison.

Intonation is still happening this year, albeit w/ a different curator (i've heard KEXP, which i know sounds weird it being in Chicago, but they do promote events across the US)

Hopefully Siren will be worth going to this year. Not that standing around in 90-degree weather in a packed crowd is much fun, but still...

Siren was definitely worth going to last year, for one reason. IT'S FREE!!!!! Get a clue and find something else to hate on.

Hey, have you seen this yet? The tour isn't posted on Jens's own site, but Secretly Canadian has a list of dates up here: http://secretlycanadian.com/shows.php

A year ago today, Village Voice announced the date for last year's Siren. Guess we should get an announcement any day now.
