Rumor Confirmed, Lifetime signed to 'Fall Out Boy label'

Lifetime FROM PITCHFORK: "Lifetime recently reunited for a few shows, including a Shirts for a Cure benefit concert at SXSW. Now, the reunion has become full-blown, as the band has signed a record deal with Decaydance, the Fueled By Ramen subsidiary co-run by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy.

Before crying 'SELL OUTS!' and burning those old 7"s in effigy, Lifetime want to have a word with you. The following message was posted on Fueled By Ramen's website last week:

'Pete and Decaydance are giving us an opportunity to make the record we want to make while still staying in control of our music and our lives. They are behind us as artists and because of that, we're backing them as a label.'" [Pitchfork]

i can understand good punk/hardcore bands trying to sell their product to the teen screamo kids with their parents money but man, lifetime and now the riverboat gamblers are both going down that road...

signing to fall out boy's label is an instant disqualification of artistic integrity.

I don't put too much emphasis on what label it comes out on. As long as it doesn't sound like the watered down bullshit that every band pumps out on MTV2 nowadays I'll definitely check it out. If this leads to a resurgence in kid's interest in the old Lifetime material, I say good for them. Lifetime has been and always will be one of the biggest influences on my musical life, and out of respect for them and what they have accomplished to date I will definitely buy the new album. If its crap, I will be heartbroken....but its still Lifetime.
