They're playing here (MPLS) in May opening for another local band.

It's funny how everywhere else people are like "OMG TnT" but when they played here with Voxtrot everybody was like "Oh hay...TnT, cool..." yet NO DANCING.

Then everybody left and missed Voxtrot. Anywho, I like these guys, but there's a lot better bands from MPLS right now.

I think the next closest I know is that Man Man are playing 5 shows.

No wonder it's so hard for truly new bands to get a gig at SXSW. What happened to everyone just playing one show? What happened to sharing?

Posted by Dirty Lenin | March 7, 2006 11:42 AM

voxtrot and TnT both suck

bloc party's 8 shows last year broke a new record. maybe tn't can play just one more?

Last year, Robyn Hitchcock was slated to play 37 sets during the week of SXSW. (http://www.austin360.com/sxsw/content/sxsw/reviews/16reviews.html)

These young upstarts have nothing on this music veteran!

SxSW is the best scam ever. Let's go fly to the worst state in the union to pay to see the same bands we can see in New York on any given Sunday night.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2006 1:03 PM

The worst state in the union? Based on what? Politics? The lack of Bungalow 8? But I agree: SXSW sucks. You go to a really awesome, laid-back town, see a bunch of bands, talk to tons of really hot young people, warm weather, beer everywhere, parties, great food, bike trails, the river, Tex Mex (Not the bullshit that gets passed off for mexican food here in NYC) and margaritas that will make you see stars. It's really a horrible place to be for vacation, no doubt about it.

i'm drunk already just thinking about those margaritas.

One problem: Texas is full of Texans.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2006 4:20 PM

yeah and New York, is filled with New Yorker. What is your point?

Posted by danfun | March 7, 2006 4:26 PM

Who besides music industry people or magazine writers who are having their companies pay for the music pass can actually afford to go to SXSW? The price for any fan is outrageous!

Posted by Julia | March 7, 2006 4:33 PM

While it would be nice to think of SXSW as a music fan's paradise, the truth is, it is primarily an industry function. "Conference" first, "festival" second. The whole wristband deal was started more as a courtesy to residents for having their town inundated for a week.

That said, I sure am glad I live in Austin.

Name one band that is better than TNT in Minneapolis. What a load of shit.

"talk to tons of really hot young people"

that sounds like so much fun. I'm booking a flight today, costs be damned!
