NY Magazine just released their "Best of NY" awards and a vegan cupcake won in the food category, and 'R and R' won best Nouveau Rock Club, thought I don't think Black Rebel Motorcycle Club played there like they said. Morning After Girls did though, and We Are Scientists played there when it was called Rare, and The Boy Least Likely To is playing there soon.

Hey BV--half true. BRMC's Peter Hayes turned up at the afterparty and played a few songs with The Morning After Girls before playing a two song solo acoustic set of Black Rebel tunes. Rewarded my nocturnal ways.

Oo, I just went to Babycakes on Saturday. While I didn't get a cupcake for myself (took a bite; pretty good), the chocolate crumble cake is AWESOME. Dense, chocolate-filled gluten free goodness, oh yes. If you like chocolate, be sure to check it out.

There are some pretty delicious vegan cupcakes at the Vegan Bakery on St. Mark's, right near Ave. A. Chocolate and vanilla are the bestest, though peanut butter's pretty dope too...

Happy Happy Happy's vegan cupcakes are super too.

FYI, Morimoto won "Best Oddball Dessert" for a vegan cheesecake as well.

Where would you say the best vegan bakery is in either Brooklyn or Manhattan? I've heard mixed reviews about everything. I'm from out of town and I don't want to be disappointed.
