Listen to Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Show Your Bones @ AOL Music.
REVIEWS
Pitchfork gave it a disappointing 6.8 today. Rolling Stone came in higher at four out of five stars. Other reviews @ Prefix & the Village Voice. I'm listening for the first time right now.

Who cares about Pforks numbers...its badass.

agreed. they're not the gold standard for anyone except gullible, lazy scenester zombies.

if you're talking about the yeah yeah yeahs, you're absolutely correct.

also, anyone who's ever met a hipster/scenester knows that they're way too cool to care about pitchfork.

talking about both. yyys aren't worth more words than have been wasted on their behalf. pitchfork's just an assemblage of blowhard cranky hornrims. puffed up on christgau-y faux-academic masturbation disguised as music journalism. no more authoritative than entertainment weekly despite their pseudo-scientific ratings system.

oh fucking stop complaining about pitchfork you assholes. You all will still read it. It doesn't run our lives, but we do care what they score records.

hmmm - this album mostly sucks. i predict a Karen O solo album in 2008, Gwen style.
as for pitchfork hating, i agree with the above poster. it has its faults but everyone who professes to hate it still reads it fairly regularly.

I love the album, and have been listening to it daily for the past month. if anyone still cares what pitchfork thinks they should be lobotomized.

Is there a better source for music reviews than Pitchfork? Another daily source with better writing and more features that you actually feel like reading? Is any other website throwing the best music festival in the United States with tickets that cost a grand total of $30? While it might be cool to tell Death Cab for Cutie fans that you read Pitchfork, it seems that its even cooler these days to tell Pitchfork readers that you don't like Pitchfork. I bet every person that has ever commented on this blog reads Pitchfork EVERY SINGLE DAY, and about half of them pretend that they don't like it, or get pissed any time Pitchfork gives a bad review to an album they liked. Maybe it makes them question whether they're still cool. I don't know. I'm officially starting the Pitchfork backlash backlash right now.

"i predict a Karen O solo album in 2008"
try next year. she's already BEEN working on it.

does anyone else think that brian chase looks like he should be in the misfits in that press shot on village voice?
and anway, i hated the album the first time i heard it. i now think it's their best work yet.
Posted by jesus | March 27, 2006 5:29 PM
and obviously pitchfork dude has never heard unitard.
Posted by jesus | March 27, 2006 5:31 PM
Karen O's hair is ridiculously silly.

rolling stone also gave the new bubba sparks a 4 out of 5. what the fuck. what the FUCK!

I've been listening to the album for the past week or so and I agree with Pitchfork's 6.8. There just aren't that many standout tracks, and Karen O seems to have lost the energy of Fever to Tell. Cheated Hearts is pretty fucking good though. And that Diplo mix of Gold Lion...

I've been listening to the album for the past week or so and I agree with Pitchfork's 6.8. Honestly, I expected them to give it a lower review, but I guess they're not doing the backlash thing with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs just yet. fever to tell had too much yelling, but it was still a pretty good album. this album, however, is extremely mellow and different from the last which is something i love. i really enjoy when artists albums are extremely different from the last not only is that a risk - but if they pull it off they get a lot of praise from me. i really like their new album.
