I'm worried about Siren this year.

what else is happening on the same date? I didn't even check.

That's not why I'm worried. All this VV madness is what's worrying me.

All I'm worried about is that all those damn kids shower and use deoderant that day . . .

I don't feel good about Siren now that I think about what Chuck Eddy's departure means for the paper's music taste. I have a feeling the guy they bring is going to be a touch more mainstream and more consolidating in his reach. Fantasy lineup for this year's Siren Fest:

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Robert Pollard
Architecture in Helsinki
Hot Chip
The Streets
Grizzly Bear
Tapes 'N Tapes
Ted Leo
Secret Machines
...and more I can't think of, but keep reading since it probably doesn't matter.

Likely line-up:

Can't really be specific--names like Damone and Morningwood pop up (though I think the latter has already played. I just sense a whole bill of underwhelming talent.

I don't think the Voice's music writers have much (if anything) to do with the selection of acts for Siren. I remember that a couple of years ago, the Voice gleefully announced one band (sorry, I don't remember which one) had been added to the lineup right after one of the writers trashed their album in a review.

Tapes n Tapes
The Cribs
Celebration

not that impressed with the the line-up. She Wants revenge is supposed to be painfully bad in concert.
