Elefant playing free show at the Annex tonight

"Monday night at The Annex (152 Orchard St., NYC) join us to celebrate the release of Elefant's new album The Black Magic Show. The evening will include a midnight performance by Elefant and DJ sets by Jason Baron, Aurelio Valle (Calla) and b23." (thx Rich!)

You can stream that album @ AOL Music.. The same Elefant is headlining the much larger and more expensive Webster Hall in May.

too bad they're such a horrible band.

I think they're also playing at Tower Records tomorrow.

Possibly the worst live band I have ever seen.

i've seen them twice, and they are definetly one of the better bands in this city right now.
it usually comes down to whether or not you can put up with the singer's shenanigans, but the drummer and guitarist are really good.

did anyone go?

yeah we made it out. I'm a sucker for a free show, and the photo ops can't be beat: the annex's the lights are killer. diego's shenanigans were at a minimum due to some sort of foot injury- so there was a noticable lack of shoe flinging, audience kissing and michael hutchence hip swiveling. the band put on a tight set and were in a great mood with the forthcoming record release etc. no encore. and now I don't have to fight the barely legal crowd at tower today.
