Elvis Costello is heading out on an orchestral tour where he will perform with many of the finest symphonies in the United States. The first portion of Elvis Costello’s performance will feature his full-length orchestral work, Il Sogno. After intermission, he will return to perform a collection of his pop and rock hits.

Elvis also has two shows at the Brooklyn Academy of music. He will be playing with the Brooklyn Philharmonic. I'm not sure if tickets are still on sale... I would guess they are. Shows May 12 and 13.

The shows with Allen Touissant at the Beacon will not have the Brooklyn Philharmonic or any other orchestra. It is simply an Elvis Costello & The Imposters (his backing band) show with Touissant and 1 other person in Touissant's band as special guests. Thus, I'm sure they'll focus on the new album that EC will release with Touissant soon.
As for the May 12th Brooklyn date and the rest of those symphony hall dates, that tour is to support the recently released My Flame Burns Blue, which features EC backed by an orchestra on both his pop and classical material.

matt, are you 100% certain on that? this is straight from the presale page:
"Elvis Costello is heading out on a symphony tour where he will perform with many of the finest symphony's in the United States. The first portion of Elvis Costello’s performance will feature his full-length orchestral work, Il Sogno. After intermission, he will return to perform a collection of his pop and rock hits. Come see one of the world's finest singer/songwriters in what promises to be a phenomenal event. Elvis Costello will be offering special pre-sales for the symphony performances listed below"
and the two beacon dates are listed on this page. now that would be false advertising if what matt says is confirmed. :( my mom would enjoy it more w/ the symphony...

Yes I'm positive. There's a full-page ad in the Village Voice this week for the 2 Beacon shows with Allen Touissant and it mentions the Imposters, but not the orchestra. Sorry to disappoint both you and your mom, but that's great that you were able to score such good seats. I know someone who logged on at 10:01 and only was able to get Row Q in the orchestra.
The confusion is understandable since he just released a record with an orchestra that he's touring for and will release another one shortly with Touissant.

I just went on the presale page and I saw the message you quoted. This is deliberately confusing since they're selling presale tickets not only for the orchestral shows, but for the Imposters ones as well and with the same heading. Again, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this is just misleading on their part.

would qbertplaya please post his/her seat number? i was in at 10:00 on the dot and the only seats that ever came up were in the LEFT CENTER orchestra (seats 1 through 27). i tried repeatedly and no seats in the CENTER section (seats 101 through 114)ever became available.
i've used concert maps many times for elvis tix and i have a hi-speed connection. i'm not doubting q, but it certainly seems like the center section was not part of this presale.
even when i checked seats for the 2nd show, they were 8th row, but in the LEFT center section.
i suspect seats in the center will be available with the general onsale tomorrow at 11:00.
and the beacon shows are completely different from the BAM show (and different from the AC show). that's why elvis is the MAN - always keeps us on our toes.

my pair of seats are between 101 to 114 -- center.
i had to try maybe 5 times at 10 sharp. the first 4 came up with nothing at the $95 rate, or crap side seats in the last rows at the $85 rate. in any of these online sales, i almost never take the first set of seats thrown at me. maybe it's my good ticket karma, what can i say? presales usually offer tickets that are not the best either.
well, i will be psyched to see elvis from my 10th row center seat no matter if he's accompanied by symphony or not. i guess i'll have to rethink my mom's day gift then...she's not as much into traditional elvis c.

good for you, q. you're right, often the best seats are not available during the presale. i got 10th row, left center so i'm pretty happy (considering that will be my 79th costello show in 28 years!)
i also usually pass on the first tix that show up; at least with ticketbastard. i can't tell you how many times better tix show up later.
but when i passed on 8th row (left center) for the 2nd elvis show at the beacon, i screwed up because then they were gone. and nothing better became available.
i'm gonna try for the 2nd show tomorrow at 11:00.
enjoy the show (with or without mom).
