Final Fantasy | June 2006 Tour Dates | D&D

New Final Fantasy tracks are popping up all over the Internet. There's some wong tour dates floating around too. I posted them for about a minute the other night. Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett) is NOT playing May 1st in NYC. He IS playing on June 24th though...

06.23.06 - Cambirdge, MA (TT The Bear's)
06.24.06 - New York, NY (Tonic)
06.28.06 - Columbus, OH (Little Brothers)
06.29.06 - Cincinnati, OH (Alchemize)
06.30.06 - North Manchester, IN (The Firehouse)

D&D "His new album, He Poos Clouds, will be released on Tomlab Records and marks a bold step forward in ambition and scope, using the Eight Classes of Magic from venerable role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons as a jumping off point.

While the writing of most albums begins with a series of abstract ideas, solidified slowly throughout the recording and mixing processes, Owen Pallett, making records as “Final Fantasy,” set out with a plan. More specifically, he began with a list. Before beginning work on He Poos Clouds, he put together the following guide in order to help make the album a fantasy-based reality:"

  1. The album will be a set of songs that attempt to modernize each of the eight D&D schools of magic.

  2. Every song will be written for string quartet and voice.

  3. Nobody who listens to it will ever again entertain thoughts of suicide

the new album has been available on the current tour with grizzly bear, and although it doesn't quite live up to seeing him perform in person, it's still a amazing work! owen's quirkiness alone makes the show worth seeing.

Hmmm, June 24, this lends itself to a possible Summerstage and/or Prospect Park appearance. Owen is Canadian, that weekend at the parks is traditionally reserved for Canadian artists.

prospect park already has 3 artists though.. and owens great buy if it means shortening colletts set, no.

Prospect Park lineup has not been announced to my knowledge. Central Park has Feist, Collett and Buck 65. The BSS show has been announced for Prospect Park, that is the wrong weekend, but they could be switching it this year. I still think The Constantines or The Stills might end up at Prospect Park. But who knows, where Owen Pallett goes, Arcade Fire usually is not so far behind.

The new album is great, though, as someone else said, not quite as good as his live show. (Also, I have a few copies that I'm giving away over at my site).
