Pitchfork gets Os Mutantes | Secret Guests?
Pitchfork just added Os Mutantes to their festival lineup that already includes Silver Jews, Spoon, Yo La Tengo, and tons of others. That means that people that can get to Chicago without buying a plane ticket are getting a really good deal....
AND: I have NO IDEA if this is true, but "sandra" left a comment in my previous Os Mutantes post that says "my sources tell me there are going to be incredible surprise guest performances" (at the Webster Hall show). David Byrne maybe? Anyone have any info? Are they just trying to sell more tickets?

Well I was planning on being there but now that you've told everyone I 'll just have to find somewhere else to get my groove on...
Why do you stalk me so, BrooklynVegan?

Well David, given your association with Os Mutantes (you even signed them!), I couldn't help but think of you when someone said there might be a "surprise guest performance" at their NYC show (where you live and are known for "surprise guest performences"). (Also because I love you)

We can say what we want about Pitchfork, folks; but this is one HELL of a lineup.
I am really going to try to talk my wife into going to this one.

I haev a theory and it may be totally out of line. If the Silver Jews are the big headliner the second day I think the lack of real indie star power (like the first night's Yo La Tengo, Spoon, Os Mutantes) suggests that the Silver Jews performance could expand into a Pavement reuinion. I'm probably crazy and reading too much into something but it just seems like there'd be no festival where that would eb a bigger deal.

just a thought: if css and bonde de role are playing in town the two nights prior to the os mutantes show, and both of their schedules are currently free on the 21st, how 'bout a slightly strange mix of brasilian music past and present?

"how 'bout a slightly strange mix of brasilian music past and present?"
No, that sounds rather awful. Sorry.
Go see dipro on the 2nd stage to get your bonde de role fix.
