secret Art Brut show tonight? & 2 more shows in May
ART BRUT @ BOWERY BALLROOM | APRIL 3, 2006 (FROM EATSDIRT)

Ultragrrrl's Stolen Transmission party is tonight (April 6) at the Annex in NYC. She says "If you want to hear the song 'we formed a band' you just might hear it from stage rather than the dj booth... at about 1am. hint. hint."
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for Art Brut @ Knitting Factory in NYC on May 17th AND 18th. Tickets are still on sale for Art Brut @ Southpaw on April 11th.

I don't like it one bit. Art Brut needs to take a breather tonight so they're sharp for tomorrow's show in Philly. 1 am? They should be counting sheep!

Eddie does not sleep.
FYI, Error on this post, you have the date as April 3, it was April 4.

They were fantastic Wednesday night too. Those photos are great.

eddie was surprisingly ultra nice when i drank with him at the mercury lounge bar last year...fun show.

They played 2 shows on Tuesday and Wednesday (the 4th and 5th, respectively). I was at the Wednesday show and it was great. They play here a lot and comparatively, tomorrow night is their 1st Philly show ever.
As for the "secret show", I think this is dubious simply because they're playing in Philly tonight, at least according to Ticketweb and a previous BV post. Tomorrow night they're playing Haverford College unless that was cancelled or something. Thus, they'd have to play in Philly, drive back here to play the late show and then drive back to the Philly area tomorrow. I suppose it's possible, but it just seems unlikely given their itinerary:

I don't see a link on Ticketweb for the onsale or a posted date on The Knitting Factory's website for the shows. What's the deal?

On night two at Bowery, did anyone see the guy in the mosh pit during Modern Art taking video? I want see the result of that so bad.

thanks for your negative feedback on my photos. could you at least explain why they suck. They suck like Arctic Monkeys? or suck like Nickleback?
Posted by Jonny Leather | April 7, 2006 12:34 PM
chill, the explanation point was there to imply i was being sarcastic, but on a serious note theyre all blurry
Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2006 1:06 PM
sorry. i did not realize the "!" was an implication of sarcasm. I'll be more careful with that next time. Yeah, obviously, they're blurry. I used motion blurs in nearly all of them, plus they're a tiny bit pixelated from the web. thanks.

jonny i like the motion pics. i was there the first nite too, they were terrific, they've really progressed a lot since I saw them at Mercury. I've got some (not-so-blurry) pics here for those of you who prefer that: http://indie-licious.blog.com/665872/

I posted a comment earlier and for whatever reason it didn't go through. Anyway Art Brut are in Philly tonight, so I don't think the secret show thing is real. They'd have to play in Philly, drive back here and then go back tomorrow for a show at Haverford College (about 15 min outside of Philly). I suppose it's possible, but just doesn't make sense in terms of their itinerary.

that "secret show" was actually last night, and someone who went said it didn't happen anyway - Eddie showed up bandless at the Annex around 1:30 and just DJ'd.
Posted by brooklynvegan | April 7, 2006 4:24 PM
I just noticed the date of the post. It's from yesterday. D'oh, as Homer Simpson would say. Anyway did anyone go? Did it really happen? I should really read these things more carefully. Sorry!
Posted by Matt Berlyant | April 7, 2006 4:25 PM
Yup...it was a no go. Eddie was there to hang out and DJ, but he looked pretty beat. Word was most of the band was long passed out. Eddie doesn't sleep, however. Ever. The earlier comment is correct on that one.
