WOLF PARADE @ NORTHSIX (more)
Wolf Parade @ Northsix

This poor guy....

----

"Now I don't have anyone to go to wolf parade with. and i have FOUR tickets. if i cant find anyone i cant go. thats the exact reason why im not going to the raconteurs. I decided to do a little math on how many tickets I had that were not used and were pretty much a waste.
The Arcade Fire - Central Park Summerstage - 9/15 - 37.95 x 2 = 75.90
BRMC - Irving Plaza - 9/26 - 22.85
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/The National - Irving Plaza - 12/31 - 31.75 x 4 = 127
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/The National - Warsaw - 9/7 - 18.35 x 2 = 36.70
Coldplay - Nassau Coliseum - 3/27 - 125
Coldplay - Madison Square Garden - 9/6 - 64.35 x 2 = 128.70
Death Cab for Cutie - 35? (I know it was more but i dont have the ticket with me)
Stellastarr - Warsaw - 3/28 - 23.35 x 2 = 46.70
Wolf Parade - Northsix - 10/25 - 18.53 x 2 = 37.06
TOTAL:
634.91 wasted on concert tickets that WERENT used. it's prolly even 100 dollars more when you count shipping, tax, etc. I feel SO bad for my dad, he helped me with a lot of that. So if ANYONE ever says 'I'll go to that show with you' and drops out towards the last few days, warning: I will kick you in the face. Enough money has been wasted. I don't care if you have to murder people, lie, steal, cheat, you're now going to the show with me if you show even a slight interest of going with me. that is all. "

----

I'm guessing this is a trend, especially with shows that sell out quickly months before the show date. Of course this guy might want to learn to use Craigslist. He's estimating he lost $734 at face. I wonder what he lost at scalper's prices?

WEIRD AL NOT ACTUALLY RELATED TO THIS POST
Weird

(note: this post in no way endorses scalping).

The kid's post seems really weird to me. He can't go to shows by himself? And who shells out all that money for tickets without collecting the cash upfront from his friends? Furthermore, whose dad shells out all the money again and again? And you'd have to live under a rock not to know about reselling tickets, online and outside the venue.

he'll prob be featured on the next episode of
mtv's sweet 16

must be nice to have that much $$$ to blow
thanks dad

i'm with cortney
start going to shows on your own
or let your friends buy every now and then

The staff working the door at most NYC venues will help you sell your extras if you let 'em know. Had it happen a few times- pretty nice of them.

This dude needs to see somebody about his social anxiety issues.

he is the reason i can't get tickets to some shows.

this guy doesn't deserve anyone to go with.

Posted by Ryan | April 10, 2006 2:22 PM

totally agree with ryan.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2006 2:26 PM

If his friends bailed they should be responsible for paying him anyway. They probably bailed on him because he's creepy as shit.

holy shit how in the world did I end up getting on brooklynvegan. my face turned red when I saw it!

just so everyone knows 80% of that was my own money that I worked hard for, and I live deep on Long Island so it's kinda hard to get into the city without someone to go with considering i'm still 16!

also, if anyone really wants to go to these shows. what can I say. you all have your chance to get tickets for these shows, 4 tickets is not gonna make a difference. I put all of these tickets on craigslist and the only one I got interest in was the arctic monkeys and cyhsy. don't complain just because you didn't feel like buying tickets right away to be on the safe side. that's what i did. in fact I waited about two weeks to buy cyhsy tickets, they didn't sell out for awhile.

what is really funny is how one takes the time to post all this shit about someone they dont know...why dont you city snobs do something else with your lives besides sitting in front of a computer and going to shows so you can show off to other indie snobs that you went to a smiths show before they broke up...get over yourselves.

hey buddy, dont listen to these jaded indie heads, going to shows when youre 16 is pretty fucking cool, especially when youre driving out there from long island. such dedication to music (and what i consider to be good music) is a rarity at your age and great to see. i remember when i was that young live shows having a huge impact on me. finding friends at that age to come with you can be tough, and yeah when your 16 its hard going to shows on your own cause as it is youre most likely the youngest kid there (and add to that the natural insecurity and isolation brought on by adolesence). i suggest only buying 2 tix from now on, and if you cant get a friend to go with you you should have absolutely no problem finding someone to buy them, especially when theyre for sold out shows, and hey if you can never find someone just hit me up and ill go with you or find someone who will. dont let these guys get you down, theres nothing wrong with trying to go see your favorite bands live. its better than staying home and watching mtv, which most kids your age are doing. keep the faith.

btw i did go to wolf parade last night and it was fuckin awesome. no tickets wasted.

see the problem is i'm still a minor that doesn't live in the city. i can't walk to a show if i wanted to. if i want to see a band it takes weeks of planning and then when my few friends say they don't want to go, it screws up everything and my parents don't trust me enough to go on a train by myself at 12 am. maybe when i'm eighteen.

the thing about long island is there are no concerts unless you're a huge hardcore fan. there has been one show on long island in the past year that I was interested in, Ben Folds at Hofstra, and when I got there 'CANCELLED DUE TO PNEUMONIA' and he never came back either. so i'm forced to go to the city and try to see these bands. if i'm lucky enough, i end up going.

i'm trying to be mature, trying to gain no sympathy points either. i take all your advice and cortney said, i only buy tickets for myself from now on. just bought ONE jose gonzalez ticket and I'm most definitely going. sorry if it sold out because of me, but I doubt it. and sorry to everyone if you wanted to go to a show that i had tickets for, just keep my livejournal name in mind and i'm sure i'll write another entry about how i'm so depressed i can't see a band. just comment that youre interested and we'll meet up and sell. the end!

For all those complaining that he's the reason you didn't get tickets to a show and are apparently so in the know about this scene then you need to realize that at almost EVERY sold out show they release 8-20 tickets, so lay off him for that because it's only your fault that you don't get tickets to a show and no one else's.

You also don't know this kid and realize how into music he actually is. He's probably the only person who actually deserves to be at any of these shows and because of his age isn't able to go. I used to think I was super into music at a young age but this guy kicks my ass.

Just because it took you until you were 20 or older and already living in NYC to get into music, don't rip on him because he has trouble getting to shows.

It's hard enough going to shows alone, but being only 16 makes it that much harder, especially since he has such a commute to these shows.

Plus, even though he does pay for most of these tickets, even if he didn't, it's none of your business if his dad decided to help him pay for these shows. He could be spending this money and his dad's on something ridiculous instead of attempting to see great music.

Just let him be, cause in 5 years time you'll be reading his blog about all the new music!

this kid WAS at Warsaw for Editors and Stellastarr. he was rockin' up front with the rest of us, and we were surprised to learn he was only 15. i wasn't that cool when i was 15. hell, i'm still not that cool. this kid rocks.

He is the reason I am watching family feud right now.

like the few nice, unjaded commenters said before me, nick is one of the nicest people i know and he knows more about music than anyone i've ever met, regardless of age. the only person i've met who knows more about him is my boss at the big takeover magazine...and he knows a lot. this kid has more credibility and heart in his pinky then all you assholes have combined.

and to all those who ripped on him for having his father help him out with the $$, just think about how much money your parents spent on your abercrombie and fitch outfits...oh wait, you can't admit to wearing that, cos that isn't the epitome of cool. too bad. oh, and also all the money you probably wasted on drugs and alcohol and cigarettes. oh but wait, that stuff is cool. oops. fuck off.

Indie bloggers are a joke.Who takes the time to look through anonymous livejournals anyway? Oh yeah the same kids whos lives revolves around going to shows and leaving before the main band just to show how dedicated they are to being indie. And then go home, to write about it and jerk off to the latest voxtrot album . fuck you.

Posted by Dj | April 10, 2006 4:27 PM

Pissy commentors are a joke. Who takes the time to look through blogs only to spout off rambling nonsense? Oh yeah the same kids whos lives revolve around writing dumb comments, and who show off being 'better than indie' by claiming others leave before the main band. And then stay home, but comment about how bad the latest voxtrot album is. jerk off.

Posted by (/=|2|2`/ | April 10, 2006 5:33 PM

I dont read random blogs, im one of nicks close friends who saw it in his lj.Never said i was better than indie, and i didnt say the voxtrot album was bad. What i'm saying is, your a big joke, and i'd rather hang out with a faggy scene dude than a snobby indie jerkoff. How old are you anyway?20 something maybe? Get a life or a job or something.

i once stood next to weird al at a tom tom club show. it was surreal.

I went to a dave matthews concert when I was 17 years old wearing a bright yellow abercrombie and fitch t-shirt that my parents bought me. I still have it, but I only wear it inside out and under a hoodie now so people don't think I'm a fratboy. Which I sort of was, but only by definition. That's beside the point. I go to a lot of indie shows now. Usually not wearing the t-shirt, however.

Anonynous commenting is fun. Can this site be more like postsecret? That blog is more popular than this one. It won like all the bloggies.

"deserves to be at any of these shows"

I hope you get raped and killed.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2006 5:45 PM

Not to be an asshole, but a lot of the anonymous commenting has come from the attacking ones.

and ryan, sorry didn't know there was a ticket for a 3 pm concert today. don't have any, sorry!

"Anonynous commenting is fun. Can this site be more like postsecret? That blog is more popular than this one. It won like all the bloggies."

heheheh I'm still chuckling. I have a good idea who wrote that.

Your watching family fued right now because your a waste of life with no job or purpose.

Posted by Dj | April 10, 2006 6:05 PM

Webster Hell is why nyc sucks and u cant give away a ticket to a good show there

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2006 8:17 PM

Like some people have said before, Nick's pretty awesome for someone his age. actually, screw that he'd be pretty cool even if he was 50.

"deserves to be at any of these shows"

--------------------------

I don't exactly understand how what I said warranted that kind of response but I'm really glad people like you get to go to shows while people like Nick aren't able to attend.

I don't think a lot of indie bands play jail so umm yeah...

Posted by sarah | April 10, 2006 9:44 PM

So supposedly this story is about a person named Nick.

Well Nick I have one thing to say... if you ever have spare tickets to a gig, I'll buy them off you. You evidently have good taste in music, so all of you fools having a go at him, shove it.

Land of Talk is playing Bowery Ballroom on May 20th (w/ Rainer Maria and Ambulette)

solo concert go-ers of the world unite!

Posted by junky | April 11, 2006 7:16 AM

It's kids like this that buy the tickets, buy the cd's, and the concert t-shirt. Bless his heart-he's one of the only people keeping the music indusctry in business.

Posted by This is so Punk | April 11, 2006 11:40 AM

This kid is probably wetting his pants right now in excitement that he is on brooklynvegan.com. Way to go kid! I would've been psyched if I was 16 and a whole post was on me.

Posted by Suburbia in the City | April 11, 2006 11:42 AM

wow, what a waste, sadly. frame the tickets!
or something.
so i couldn't get rid of my wolf parade tickets for yesternight and didn't go. but oh well.

Posted by diana | April 11, 2006 1:25 PM

hey kid, let me know the next time you want to unload some tickets (or ritalin, adderall, what have you). haha, just not kidding.
