numero group said it best:
Pitchfork: Yeah, there's mostly a glut of over-hyped and over-styled bands out there.
KS: There are so many flavors of the month, I mean, Tapes'n'Tapes? Who the fuck is that?

I read last week in the Metro daily that they'll be signing to a major, though I don't know which one yet. Sorry to disappoint all of you.

i equate tapes n' tapes and blogs to the arctic monkeys and NME. it seems that bloggers have all decided to latch onto this mediocre band, and are trying to blow them up so they can pat theirselves on the back if the band gets any sort of notoriety.
boring music.

absolutely agreed: i personally think tapes n' tapes is poorly executed and boring. but it's tough, everyone wants to feel like they're hip to the next breakthrough artist. either as consumer, critic, to impress friends, colleagues, or just to feel like they're really ontop of the New. you can't blame people for getting a little too excited about these bands. besides, if it weren't for their hopefulness, new bands of real merit [arcade fire, etc] wouldn't get noticed as quickly or as passionately. i'll take a bunch of tapes n tapes and arctic monkeys for the chance that one true talent will be seized upon and shouted about.
