The Black Lips @ Mercury Lounge, NYC | pics
DOWNLOAD I've got a knife (MP3)

"Their domain is the garage, bitch—not some enchanted forest. They're fucked-up, Atlanta-bred, corn-fed Pucks, bedraggled in flannel." [Village Voice]

"For the record, yes, a Black Lips dude peed in his own mouth and spit it on the crowd or so I was told. Gross." [Loose Record]

Their show opening for Wolfmother at Mercury Lounge started off like a pretty normal (punk?) rock show at Mercury Lounge. It was towards the end that two of them started making out, and then the one with the "K" hat peed in his own mouth. (Feb 20, 2006)

cole has also played guitar with his wang and bled everywhere. these guys aren't just gimmicks, though. see them live. awesome energy and great songs. when they play house parties, things get especially fun.

I was at this show, it was crazy. One of the sickest/funniest things I've ever seen. Never heard of them before this show and now I'll never forget them. GG Allin would love them.
I reviewed this show way back when, there are a few pics too.

I've seen these guys in Denver. Their live show IS as amazing and insane as the post indicates. Similar events both times I've seen them. It's a wonder they're still alive!

Yea, they played a solid set at the Knitting Fact in unHolywood for Kim Fowely that I mc'd and Cole and Co. were amazing, sharp show, super cute (sorry) and just awesome. The records are great fun in a guilty way. They dogged KIM FOWLEY the whole night for not showing up- Love those boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love to see this thread getting attention. Black Lips are the absolute realness. There is not a single band out there doing what they do. I'm not just talking about the crazy stage antics (who doesn't love vomiting onstage), but more importantly the music. The show at Bowery was great, but the venue is wrong for them. They need to be in a small club or bar. Here's to a 2 night run at Merc (wishful thinking). Le pee pee pee!
