Bloc Party "fan" club tickets | pricey, but sold out

Fan-club only pre-sale tickets for Bloc Party's Brooklyn show went on sale today. More people than I can count on two hands mentioned they joined the fan club just to get access to tickets. That makes the fan club seem like nothing more than a scam to get people to spend an extra $3.86. Mike Neuman wanted to buy one ticket with his membership. This is how much it was going to cost:
TICKET = $35 + $3.86 Fan club membership + $4.50 service charge + $8.95 mandatory shipping = $52.31
He decided to save his cash and wait for the potentially cheaper regular sale. Not everyone thought like him. The tickets still sold out in 30 minutes, or so says someone in the comments where others are are complaining about the price too.
EVEN WORSE, The fan-club only Irving Plaza show mysteriously disappeared
Blog Party has a link to stream a performance Bloc Party gave BBC on Saturday.

Bloc Party, will you please just fuck off already?

50 bucks a tickets??? I guess these shows aren't really for the greenpoint/willaimsburg community then.
it would of been nice to finally see the pool. i jog at mccarren park about three times a week, and always thought that the pool was one of those forgotten new york treasures. from what i saw at the agora show though, it looks like the pool can hold quite a number of people.

from what i can tell, today's presale had nothing to do with "fan-club only" and anyone could sign up.

what's sad is...bloc party will only see the $35, those other fees go to "silent" partners...

dont forget the secret machines are playing as well.
i love how the fan club sends out an email alterting us to ticket sales one hour after they are sold out.

If you really want tickets, I don't think it's wise to wait until they go on sale at ticketmaster.

That fanclub is actually a bargain for hardcore fans...members have access to almost 2 hours of mp3 rarities, a Q&A service where I know of someone who got a personal reply from the band, and actual access for Fan Club shows in Europe.
It's all very "Smash Hits" to me, but I can totally see the value.
And I've also heard the NYC fanclub show is not out of the question yet...it was never intended to go on sale with the rest of the tourdates, from what I'm told.

"Q&A service where I know of someone who got a personal reply from the band"
LOL....you do realize the ridulously of having to pay for that, right??
Posted by Pete | May 16, 2006 1:20 PM
Oh sure I do. But I can't imagine a band as big as they are reply to all the nutty mail they must get.

This may not be very useful information, but the Boston show also went on sale today and the best seats in the bank of america pavilion were reserved for fanclub members - $36.00 out the door for front row center - way worth the $4 membership fee I paid a year ago for the webster presale... and bloc party did send out an email a few days ago to members notifying them of the presale.

it might be "worth" the $4.00, but it's still a tax disguised as a fan club.

Got my tickets today in the presale, I would rather not chance things with ticketmaster.
I have been a member of their fanclub since the beginning of the year and have never gotten an email from them.

Reply to daniel: Bloc Party will actually less then the $35 actually they have to pay roadies and drivers and tour manegers and everyone else before they get paid.

Hey, at least it's not $30 or $40 like the RHCP fanclub. And you do get some nice mp3's (I know what your saying, "Where's the ticket lanyard?"), which isn't bad at all. Plus, members of the fanclub were able to buy just the DVD portion of the re-released album/DVD, since fanclub members probably already had the album. The price is 2 pounds too, and relatively speaking, that's really not a bad deal. The fan club doesn't make a profit, it just covers operating expenses.

just jump the fence and hop in the pool for free. its not that hard to sneak into the pool as is, and theyll have a hell of a time blocking off all entry points

if you are a member of the bloc party fan club, you should really reexamine your life.

anyone else seen the bloc party commercial for saturn? i just saw it last night. with the $$ they made on that, i think their charging for a fanclub fee is a little something something period.

The tickets on ticketmaster are $34, for fanclub members they were $35 - wtf?

"if you are a member of the bloc party fan club, you should really reexamine your life"
Sorry, but some of us cannot afford to take days off from work to wait hours upon hours in line so we grab tickets for certain shows before they sell out. Marshalls allows fans to get tickets for shows before the scalpers get their filthy hands on them - and unlike Radiohead's Waste, I was notified in advance of the presale and it took place during reasonable hours. I'm sorry, but upon further examination actually getting tickets to see a band that you like makes life a little better for some of us.

Wish it was going to be a smaller venue...Curbed.com says McCarren Pool Park will accomodate up to 5,000 people

i bought my tickets at a ticketmaster outlet. 3 tickets cost 130 bucks., so each one was like $43.
Fucking Ticketmaster. I'm already starting to regret the purchase.
