McCarran Pool sounds like somebody's back yard. Maybe it will be a block party. Get it?

Posted by musicsnobbery | May 12, 2006 9:58 AM

Isn't McCarran Pool in Williamsburg?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 10:12 AM

oh i get it, musicsnobbery. i get it.

ROOOOOOOAR!

Posted by cranky | May 12, 2006 10:12 AM

Where can you get tickets for the brooklyn show, I can't find anything about this pool on the net?

Posted by runny nose | May 12, 2006 10:16 AM

the musicnottery strikes again!

Posted by Jp | May 12, 2006 10:17 AM

mccarren pool is a pool in williamsburg (right next to mccarren park) that's been closed for some time. they don't have shows there. there have been a few art events there over the past year, but nothing like this as far as i know.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 10:21 AM

there was a dance party there last summer. It's never filled with water, sometimes a skatepark. It's bigger than a city bloc. Should be cool.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 10:39 AM

cranky, can we go to this? pppplease?

Posted by cranky's girlfriend | May 12, 2006 11:00 AM

Secret Machines Blech. Irving Plaza should be "the jump-off"

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 11:12 AM

My pa used to swim at that pool. Back in the day-way back in the day.

Posted by drewo | May 12, 2006 11:15 AM

thats badass. I wonder if the the show is gonna be in the empty pool. Anyone know where to get tickets?

Posted by your mom's bathingsuit | May 12, 2006 11:36 AM

Has anyone tried to join the fan cluib and buy tickets for the Irving Plaza show? IN other word if I join now are there still tickets left.

Posted by danfun | May 12, 2006 11:39 AM

Danfun -
I joined. They arent available yet or none left, I can't tell.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 11:56 AM

i dont think they are on sale yet.

Posted by jerry | May 12, 2006 12:01 PM

weren't there some big shows at the pool a few years ago? liars/yyys? or was that somewhere else in williamsburg?

either way, that will be a nutso show.

Posted by bryan | May 12, 2006 12:07 PM

the liars/yyy show was at a parking lot in williamsburg. it coincided with a lightning bolt/les savy fav show at another parking lot that same day in williamsburg. it was '01 or '02. the bloc party show is officially sold out days before the tickets have even gone on sell. some really zealous fans used osmosis to absorb them. please proceed with the posts about how shitty it is that it sold out so fast.

Posted by will | May 12, 2006 12:38 PM

oh right will, i don't know why i though that was at the pool. that was a long time ago.

Posted by bryan | May 12, 2006 12:58 PM

screw bloc party and secret machines... mew is coming to the US? now that is something special.

Posted by simon | May 12, 2006 12:58 PM

BP at coachella sounded awful.

Posted by Trevor | May 12, 2006 1:15 PM

I agree with Simon, Mew is easily the best of the bunch.

Posted by paul | May 12, 2006 1:34 PM

ron dreslner bought out the pool, so tickets should be onsale at ticketmaster and the irving plaza box office.

the pool is massive. this should be awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2006 1:53 PM

Mew

Posted by Bryan | May 12, 2006 1:54 PM

Never mind Mew, Maow should reunite.

Posted by Neko Case stalker | May 12, 2006 5:01 PM

when i was 4/5 i remember going to mccarren park with my gramma and looking at all the gang members and thinking they were cool.
oh, how greenpoint has changed.

from the marshals site:

"Tickets for Bloc Party in Boston, Brooklyn, and Berkeley will go onsale exclusively to Marhsals on Tuesday May 16th at 12:00pm ET."

Posted by Qbertplaya | May 15, 2006 12:37 PM

Where did the info about the Irving Plaza show come from? It isn't on Bloc Party's website and I am a Marshal and nothing is there either. Also the Irving Plaza box office knows nothing of it. Is it just a rumor or confirmed? Anyone?

Posted by Elizabeth | May 15, 2006 6:59 PM

Allegedly NME posted/leaked/rumored it.

It's been removed from the NME news posting as well..

Who knows....

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2006 8:12 PM

tickets go on sale today at noon to fanclub members and through ticketmaster on 5/20/06. the fan club makes no mention of the irving plaza show.

i hate fan clubs, but this one costs $3.86 to join (i joined yesterday).

Posted by jonathan | May 16, 2006 12:09 PM

Have you ever been to Mcarran Park? I snuck in about 6 years ago and I felt like I was in a different world.

This show is going to be stellar! Secret Machines under the stars!!??!! Are you kidding me?

Posted by ryan | May 16, 2006 12:09 PM

89.97 for two tickets! is this show at MSG or a rundown swimming pool?

Posted by Brian | May 16, 2006 12:14 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2006 12:15 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2006 12:16 PM

I go to sleep for an hour, wake up at 12:13 and the McCarren tickets are sold out.

I'm sure I won't be alone when I camp out next to the ticketmaster stand on saturday morning...I'm gonna be really pissed if I start seeing these show up on craigslist tonight going for 100 bucks...

Posted by Matthew Ruiz | May 16, 2006 12:48 PM
