BrooklynVegan site issues, new host, etc... | Help?

Server Error

As many have noticed, this website is having serious technical difficulties. There are constant "Server Errors", the comments post multiple time (if at all), and often I'm not able to post new content (this is the first time I could get publishing to work today). My current web host says I need to upgrade, and it sucks because I think a lot of the strain on the server is due to automated comment spam ("penis enlargement", Viagra, pills, etc...). For every spam comment you see, there are like 1000 more that were blocked by the filter.

Hopefully this will all be fixed soon. In the meantime, if you have any 'dedicated server' host suggestions, or you want to help (Movable Type expert?), please email me (the name of this site AT HOTMAIL.COM) or leave a message in the comments (if you can). Thanks!

i love how the person says he/she'll donate money but leaves their name blank.

Cause having the poster's name makes it so much easier to contact them, eh, sam #34536658?

Go to dreamhost.com, use promo code 'vlog' to get a $97 discount.

My God, you're hosting with 1and1? Are you on one of the free accounts?

Dreamhost is a great value. Be sure you take a look at their bandwidth and disk space limits; the discount doesn't hurt either and they're always upping their account limits.

Lots of blogs host with Dreamhost...I've also heard good things about Pair and Mediatemple as well.

MT also has a number of hosting partners:

I second lunarpages. I have about 5 different sites hosted with them!

cyberwurx.com has good products and tech support. They're worth a look if you're shopping.

I just switched from STP Webhosting (boo! hiss!) to Hostgator...it's only been a few weeks, but thus far I'm really impressed. Way more bandwidth, way less downtime, and the audio streams much, much more nicely. It's a bit (okay, a lot) more expensive than Dreamhost, but they have around-the-clock tech support, and they switched everything on my site over within 12 hours of me switching to them. So yeah...definitely a short period of time, but I haven't seen anything wrong with them yet.
