Madonna on a cross "Less than 12 hours after Madonna crucified herself on a mirrored cross, the Catholic League expressed its discontent with the concert stunt.

The controversial diva wore a crown of thorns and sang while hanging from a cross during Sunday night's opener of her 'Confessions' world tour at The Forum in Inglewood.

'Knock off the Christ-bashing,' Catholic League president Bill Donohue said in a statement Monday. 'It's just pathetic.'" [CNN]

rufus wainwright crucified himself on his last tour. i don't remember the catholic league getting their panties in a twist over that, though, and you'd think that a faggot on the cross would be the very thing to do that. hm.

marilyn manson did that with a cross made of tv's like 5 years ago... way cooler.

Yay, so Madonna manages to conjur up another fake controversy. How many is that now? Guess when you release a record no one gives a damn about, you have to get attention some way. And to boot she's not even particularly original about it.

Funny. I didn't know there was a "t" in "lame."

If the famous children's book author'd hung herself by a thick red Kabbalah rope then I'd have paid attention. Crucifixion is so 2000 years ago.

If it's any consolation to the church, on first glance I thought that was the scarecrow from wizard of oz on first glance.
That woman is a damn fool.

I wanted to let you know that a new Madonna site has opened, it's www.madonnashop.com and sells a lot of great items!

I like that Donohue from the Catholic League didn't express concern, but rather deemed it "pathetic". This truly is a bore... it was equally boring when Kanye did it for the Rolling Stone cover too.
