free Boris show tonight @ The Annex

DOWNLOAD: Farewell (MP3) (via)

Cult Japanese band Boris played with SunnO))): at Avalon last night. Swanfungus said it was the loudest show he's ever seen. Tonight (May 31, 2006) Boris play for free at the Annex (152 Orchard, NYC) at midnight.

Boris was GREAT last night at Avalon opening for SunnO))) (who were pretty incredible as well).

I'd say Sunno))) was louder than Boris, and it definitely ranked up there among the loudest shows I've ever witnessed. It was pretty insane.

Too bad there was no fog machine, though.

Pink is indeed out in the US now.

Last night's show was amazing. They tore shit up. Much better setting for them than the Avalon. They played an hour+ too. And there was free sparks! (I didn't drink any).

Yeah the annex show was better than the avalon show. Better setlist and you could actually hear the drums at the annex.
I hope no one attempted both shows without ear plugs.

i did. and now i'm deaf. and unbalanced. and it was worth it. though, not worth it enough to try seeing them again with out earplugs. any recs for tinitus?

Hopefully all you SunnO))) and Boris fans saw the big azz article in the New York Times Magazine (!?!) about this scene. Really odd to see something like this stuff get coverage in that mainstream of a media source. Anyway, check it out.

I'm wincing at just now reading about this added free show at Annex (3 days after the fact), but having seen the Avalon show and thinking the set was as damn-near to perfect as i can imagine (opening with Blackout from Pink; and then, an amazing version of A Bao A Qu into a song from Dronevil(!) into Akuma no Uta; my mind's still whirling), please give me details of this mythical better set so i could somehow try to concieve of it!

i saw the boris and sunn 0))) show at avalon, and it blew the doors off the place. the stained glass shattered and showered the place in colored glass. the place was a lake of blood and sliperry tennis shoes and when sunn 0))) unleashed the bass, the whole floor split into chunks and lava poured off the stage melting the crowd, throwing tidal waves of sound at damaged ears, people defecating without warning....haha! well, not really, but damn it was out of sight....never heard such low ends in my life. and boris was amazing...i heard about the annex show but i swear my ears were definitely too damaged from the avalon show...i will definitely go see them again but i will never do it without ear plugs...
