free show @ Ground Zero: Lou Reed, Brazilian Girls, Citizen Cope, Ollabelle, Suzanne Vega, etc...

"7 World Trade Center, a gleaming 52-floor tower adjacent to where the Twin Towers stood until Sept. 11, 2001, officially opens on May 23. So far, Silverstein only has commitments for less than 25 percent of the new space." [Reuters]

The opening ceremony is at 11:30. At noon there's a free concert and the lineup is pretty impressive: Brazilian Girls, Citizen Cope, Ollabelle, Pharaoh's Daughter, Lou Reed, Ronan Tynan, Suzanne Vega, and Bill Ware Vibes. Flyer below.....

Nice, I wonder if Lou is with his whole band. Anyone know the set times/schedule?

Yeah, I don't know if I am that ready to 'rock out' at Ground Zero yet.

I just get the feeling that watching Lou Reed and Ronan Tynan play a midday show in the Financial District would be so wrong...........or so wrong that its right.

Would any gambling men or women like to set the odds of each artist saying something controversial that gets the knickers of the God-Bless-America crowd in a twist? Who's the favorite, Lou Reed or Suzanne Vega?

so here's the deal:

"The politicians are going to talk from 1130-12. Then each artist will have about 10 minutes. Quick changes between. Outside in the
plaza"

That was a great show! Can't believe I got to see Citizen Cope playing "Bullet and a Target" and Lou Reed playing "Sweet Jane" in the same half hour! Thanks for telling us about this one BV, great music and not very crowded at all...

Lou was pure Rock n' Roll, and you could tell many people were excited to see him live. He even found time to ridicule Silverstein and Sen. John McCain during the middle of Sweet Jane...
