McCarren Park Pool is haunted | Deerhoof playing

According to "Haunted Places", "There used to be a pool in McCarren Park where a little girl drowned, she is seen roaming the area at night calling for help." Paranormal NYC documented this in the Encyclopedia of Haunted Places.

The "TBA" Brooklyn show that Deerhoof is playing on August 13th is at McCarren Park Pool.

Well, at least the haunted girl doesn't have to pay $45+ to see Bloc Party and Secret Machines.

It's haunted? I used to walk by that spot all the time. There are spots you can see into the old pool through the fence. Now who wants to go and look for the little ghost girl at night? Chills...

every abandoned pool is rumoured to be haunted. at Pratt the pool was said to have been shut down because someone drowned. Sounds much cooler than "lack of finances."

also, supposedly, there are tunnels. everywhere.

McCarren POOL should be restored to it's past grand self! Historic Place? What do the locals have to say about their pool?

Yes, we are the team who documented the haunting of McCarren Park Pool but to date no one has ever seen the girl since it was first reported in 1992. After 2 investigations at the pool we were not able to find any proof of the little girl ghost who wanders around the pool. Historical records have several fatalities at the pool over the many years it was opened so it would be impossible to prove who the little girl was and even if she ever existed. I keep hearing about the restoration of the pool and being one of the people who swam in it back in the days I think it would bring happy times back to Greenpoint. The pool was a fun part of history, ghost or no ghost.

I hope the pool isn't haunted but I hope more that they reopen the pool. I too have had many happy summer days swimming there and it would be a shame to not reopen it.

my dads friend got his hair caught in the filter and drowned. lots of people drowned there, but there is definatly no ghost because i actually went there at 10:00 P.M. with my friends. There is no ghost

I was born at 144 N 11th St, and brought up on Guersney St. That pool held very many fun times for me as well as the picnics & concerts in the park. I just came across this site by chance and was floored. The pool should be restored to the way it was back in the 60s & 70s. It was a fun place to be with family and friends.
Living here in Colorado now and when I think of good times while growing up, I ALWAYS think of the pool and park...
