not mention sonic youth tickets, i had em in my cart and ticketweb crashed, im so bummed right now.

Apparently, you wanted people to know so you posted it 4 times, Vegan. I know you're just trying to get the word out.

BTW: Section 200, Row J, first night

Sorry, guys.

Posted by musicsnobbery | May 5, 2006 11:06 AM

Advice for next time - do it the old fashion way and go to a Ticketmaster outlet. I got tix for Radiohead for both nights and only had to stand in line for an hour. I felt like I was 16 again. Wahoo!

Section: 200, Row J.

Sorry, folks.

Posted by musicsnobbery | May 5, 2006 11:22 AM

i was a little displeased with how much they were going for originally. i guess radiohead arent as idealistic as they appear. too bad

Posted by andrew | May 5, 2006 11:32 AM

This is just rediuclous. Fans want to go and see a band and they get shut out by lame ass scalpers who are trying to sell you tickets for 500 a pop. It sucks so bad. Did I mention it's my birthday today too? If anyone wants to sell me a ticket, go to my website and I'll contact you:)

Posted by This is so Punk | May 5, 2006 11:34 AM

i was really trying to be one of those scalpers...got there too late though.

Posted by sam | May 5, 2006 11:39 AM

I am looking to trade a pair of 6.13 tickets for two on the 14th. anyone interested?

is the GA section like it normally is?

Posted by gibs | May 5, 2006 11:47 AM

I got section 300-is that good? What is this venue like? I agree with the above poster-the only chance in hell you have to get tickets for face value is by getting in line at a Ticketmaster outlet and praying.

There were scalpers in line behind me. They are such sleazes full stop. And I don't know how to control them-maybe they should ask for ID as you get a ticket at Tower and have a log-then they will have everyone's name and can ID the scalpers.

I heard a rumor that they may be adding a couple more shows, so cross your fingers.

Posted by Charles | May 5, 2006 11:47 AM

I fully expected the show to sell out quite quickly, but what frustrated me was that every time I tried for a ticket I got an "operation could not be completed, please try again" message and had to keep starting over. I wasn't getting the screen that you get when a show is sold out; it was a screen I had never seen which indicated to me that ticketmaster wasn't working properly or simply couldn't handle the volume of requests. Either way, I had absolutely no luck whatsoever. If anyone wants to help a poor, grade d blogger out, please drop me a line.

Gibs- where are your seats on the 13th? (the ones you want to trade.)

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 11:55 AM

thank god for W.A.S.T.E.

it wasn't even worth dealing with ticketmaster, what a corrupt joke. already hundreds of auctions on Ebay. fuck them.

section 206

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 11:58 AM

i also got 1 ticket in the 300 section - so EXCITED... i don't think that there are really any bad seats at the MSG theater (saw sigur ros there recently). as for the price - $60+ to see Radiohead in the smallest setting we're likely to ever see them again is well worth the price. Much hate to people who already have "extra tickets" and are trying to sell them for the GNP of a small country!

As for the scalper situation - i believe in the UK, they do institue some kind of ID check system to prevent this from happening at events like Glastonbury, etc

Posted by starslight | May 5, 2006 11:59 AM

there is def no bad seat at the theater - anyone know what the deal with GA is?

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 12:01 PM

gibs- where are your seats on 6/13? (the ones you want to trade)

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 12:02 PM

the ones i have for 6/13 that i want to trade are in section 206

Posted by gibs | May 5, 2006 12:03 PM

My friend and I got on at 10 AM exactly to buy tickets and they were already gone. It just kept on saying that there were no tickets available that matched our request. Hopefully they'll add more dates?

Posted by Jamie | May 5, 2006 12:04 PM

I woke up at 4 in the morning to get my GA tix. I cannot even describe the relief it brought.

I feel sorry that other fans won't get to catch this show but seriously, scalpers or no scalpers, some people will always lose out... and some people get and aren't happy with what they got.

Radiohead will do another world tour after the new one comes out in '07, and there's always hope that if you didn't catch them this time around, you will next.

Oh and there's always this:

YEAH! got 1 ticket in 300 section - and in my opinion, all sections are good at the MSG theater. $60+ to see RH is a bargain in such a small venue! Much hate to the people who already have "extra tickets" that are trying to sell them for the value of a small country's GNP.

AS for protecting against scalpers, in the UK they do have some form of ID check for events like Glastonbury...

i hate this shit! i wasted my whole morning hovering over the REFRESH key and I got nothing for it...

ugh.

Posted by richard | May 5, 2006 12:08 PM

the ticketmaster website wasn't even worth trying - the minute the page refreshed to show tickets being on sale, they were gone. the nyc phone line was also busy from about 9:45 on... the only way i got tix was by calling another state's ticketmaster line. i was actually able to buy tickets, call back and buy more under a different name & cc (what's with the 2 person limit??) I was this close to buying more and scalping them but hey, that just wouldn't be right.

Thank god for waste. It was such a stree-free, simple process. I was even able to call my friends, and we all pretty much were able to get all the tickets we needed.I think between me and all my friends we got about thrity tickets. we're all die-hards, who have been fans since like '96.

the show is gonna be so awesome!

i was really upset at first because i was having problems with the site and could only get one ticket for the 14th. It's GA though and i'm so happy now that i've read all the unfortunates' stories. i don't care anymore that i didn't get a sonic youth ticket at cbgbs. i hate that venue anyways... the dolls would've been better at the mercury lounge or something. oh, and some dude on a messageboard is trying to barter a pair of tickets for a threesome with two women, pictures required. i think it's a joke but otherwise it's still less disgusting than those fucking scalpers.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 1:21 PM

does anyone know if the tower will have a GA section?

Posted by lauren | May 5, 2006 1:21 PM

Honestly, seeing all these bands like Radiohead, and Sonic Youth in NYC has become a big business, and frankly the fact that scalpers are all over the tickets just shows how mainstream they all really are. What was once independent and alternative has become major and commercial. I have family that are scalpers and trust me five years ago, they weren't trying to get tickets to these kinda shows. In all honesty, if you had been a fan for more then say the last 1 maybe 2 albums, or actually followed the music like you gave a fuck about more then just when these bands came to town you would've probably already seen them when they were in their prime anyway. And you know, if not

"get off the bandwagon, and put down the handbook"

I don't know if this still works but it's probably worth a try:

a few years ago, there was this one gig that was sold out within a few minutes and the tix were being sold by ticketmaster. I went to the outlet, online, all gone. but my friend called ticketmaster and got tickets that way a few weeks later. so you should call and talk to an agent instead.

Posted by s | May 5, 2006 2:02 PM

hey ryan, wow considered that some of us might have already seen these bands but are such fans that we'd jump at a chance to see our favorite bands again when they are in town?

And I hope your family is proud of their job as disgusting vultures.

way to appear as a total asshole

Ryan,
next time learn to type in english so people can know what you're being bitter about.

thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2006 2:14 PM

Actually, I remember Radiohead's Roseland show in 2000 and that thing was a total nightmare to get a ticket for. Scalpers were loving it and charging over $300/ticket... And I also remember the same went for their Radio City shows for the OK Computer tour in 1998. I saw them then and see them now. Probably seen them 15 times over the since my first show in '98 and they have never disappointed. Plus, the LOVE playing NYC.

So, wrong, scalpers have always been on these guys. It's been a loooooooong time since Radiohead has played really small venues under the scalpers' radar. But that doesn't mean they're past their prime. I hardly think HTTT was a "past their prime" album... it and their tour fucking kicked ass. They're still going to play "Paranoid Android" and it will still blow people away...

Lorax, the only thing cool you got going for you is your name. And you jacked it from Dr. Seuss. Now you tell me, who is the tool?

My only point is that if you haven't noticed the climate in NYC for music, shows, and getting tickets to shows has changed very much over the last year. Until you acknowledge, accept, and adapt you will be left to bitch about not getting tickets on Brooklynvegan.

Ryan, no offense, but they were playing a small (for them) venue only twice in a metro area of 20 million people. And they are one of the most popular bands in the world. Did you expect the tickets to sell slowly? Did you not expect them to be this desirable?

And as for your "they're mainstream" comment-Duh. It's called the passage of time; it's called the media.-no good band remains unknown for long.

Thank god for Waste!! I scored some tickets for the first San Diego show. For those that don't know, you should try to score tickets through radiohead's unofficial website before trying scalpers....

at least scalpers dont have access to the GA Floor, right:

As stated at time of sale, tickets purchased on the GA floor must be picked up at the MSG box office on the night of the show. A photo ID and the actual credit card used to purchase the order must be present at the time of pickup.

Travel from NYC to Tower Theatre, Philly: Car or public transportation? I've checked the SEPTA website and still can't figure it out.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2006 10:45 AM

I'd say car. The train from Penn would be your second best bet, but the theater is far enough outside the city that it would be a hassle to get there by public transport.

Posted by Ryan | May 6, 2006 11:17 AM

Upon further inspection, the theater isn't all that far from 30th St Station and you can take the Market-Frankford Subway (or trolley?) westbound to 69th & Market which appears to be one block from the theater.

Posted by Ryan | May 6, 2006 11:37 AM

Seriously Ryan, there is no way for you to make ur family of scalpers seem like good, warm-hearted people. Scalping tickets requires no business talent, it requires having a scum bag personality.

Posted by Emily | May 6, 2006 4:33 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2006 10:29 PM

to get to the tower from 30th street train station take the El train westound and get off at the end. you can see the tower when you walk out of the station. the El stops running at midnite by the way...

I have a Boston ticket for Monday, June 5th: CONC B, row T9, seat 2 (Bank of America Pavilion).

I would like to exchange it for one NYC ticket for either the Tuesday, June 13th or Wednesday, June 14th show at the MSG Theater. I will also reimburse the difference in cost of the ticket (about $10).

I live in NYC so I would prefer to see the show in NYC. Please contact me at cartonsyd@gmail.com if you would like you make a trade.
