I think good thoughts when I think of Jane's Addiction. That's why it bothers me to see Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney's cheesy band The Panic Channel being billed as an "Ex-Jane's Addiction Supergroup".

In less depressing Jane's news....
"Lollapalooza founder and former JANE'S ADDICTION and PORNO FOR PYROS frontman PERRY FARRELL hopes to release the debut album from his new band, SATELLITE PARTY, sometime late this summer. The self-titled effort, which includes former EXTREME guitarist NUNO BETTENCOURT, will feature guest appearances from RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist FLEA and guitarist JOHN FRUSCIANTE, along with BLACK EYED PEAS singer FERGIE, NEW ORDER bassist PETER HOOK and Farrell's wife, Etty. The group's first public appearance was at last year's Lollapalooza festival, and, according to Farrell, the band hopes to make a second appearance this year. Satellite Party's first single, "Dogstar," is slated for release this summer. In the meantime, Rhino is preparing a Jane's Addiction box set and plans are in the works to release two of Farrell's films "

I believe Jane's Addiction already took care of ruining "Jane's Addiction's good name."

Dave Navarro Sucks. Flat out. His guitar is all show and no greatness.

Jane's should have given up prior to that Kettle Whistle record and the ensuing tour with Flea. I won't even speak on that "comeback record"...
Navarro and Carmen Electra deserve each other.

Whatever happened to Eric A?

this is nothing Porno For Pyros didn't ruin years ago

Eric A made the underappreciated Deconstruction album with Navarro, started a band called Polar Bear that may or may not still exist, and played bass in Alanis Morissette's band.

Eric Avery decided not to join the reunion because he knew it would be terrible. Great foresight on his part.
Posted by Anonymous | May 18, 2006 5:04 PM
Oh, and Eric A also tried out (and failed) to be Metallica's bassist. I think we can all agree he's better off for it.

Exactly what does Etty bring to the table?

I saw the Panic Channel San Diego show on Tuesday. Worst concert I have ever been to in my life. Not only is the band terrible, but they almost make Janes Addiction unlistenable.
Kinda like what Audioslave has done to Soundgarden and RATM.

gimme a break.... everybody here can go fuck themselves. yes, the last jane's record sucked but the fact remains that they are still one of the greatest alternative rock bands... EVER. secondly, navarro is an amazing guitarist. whoever said he sucks is a clueless idiot. lastly, i have heard a good chunk of the panic channel record. it's good. no, it's not jane's addiction but it shouldn't be... this is a NEW BAND, not a fucking supergroup. at this point i would say it's probably better than the first audioslave record. but, again, even if it tanks it doesn't change the fact that jane's are/were a phenomenal band that they (along with nirvana and the pixies) were largely responsible for the early 90's alt rock explosion. end of story. thank you and goodnight.

Um...I'm gonna have to agree with sonicjunkie on this one. I love to hate as much as the next person, but there is more than one song on their new record that I totally dig (way more than the last Jane's album). No it's not Jane's Addiction at all, but personally I would have been more pissed off if they tried to act like it was. Jane's rules! Dave rules! And in my expert opinion as a woman...the new singer is WAAAAYYY hotter than Perry!

When will Jane's fans ever realize that Jane's is done? The Panic Channel NEVER said they were Jane's minus Perry. It's a different sound, different vibe, different all around. Yes, Perk, Chaney and Dave are ex-members of Jane's, but they are now members of TPC. Is it really that fucking hard to follow?
I saw the show at the Roxy and it was fucking mint. Haters will hate. And while you do so, you're missing out.

very well put Addicted..... i couldn't have said it better myself.

The Panic Channel does in fact suck MUCH ASS. I never saw this group as a Janes Addiction Supergroup. But some of you on here like to think that is what they are. I have heard their "NEW" sound, and it is fucking horrible. They are not a rock band at all, because in order to be a rock band, you have to ROCK. They are the worst excuse for a band I have ever seen. And for those on here who say the Panic Channel CD is better than Audioslave, you are fucking Blind. Audioslave will wipe their asses with Panic Channels bullshit music. END OF STORY. And this new lead singer guy, should do us all a favor and go play in traffic. HEAVY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

First off, Perry is done. His tiny little piece of manhood went away when he married the tour slut. For gods sake the bus driver used to fuck her! Reguardless, Perry is a fuckin liar and a cheat. That's why he lost the best band mates there ever was. Jane's was an epic band, that will never be what it once was. The Panic Channel is not Jane's! Perry should just move out of Venice before he gets bitch slaped again. That's right ...BITCH SLAPED!!

The new album by The Panic Channel is among those you can stream via AOL Music's Full CD Listening Party:
http://music.aol.com/songs/new_releases_full_cds?defaultTab=2
Doesn't sound much, if at all, like Jane's Addiction. The page says the fourth member of the band was an MTV VJ in the '90's.

Whoops, here's the correct URL:

I don't see why you people take the time to comment if your going to just put the band down. Jane's addiction has nothing to do with TPC, so don't compare them. TPC is quite new, but already they have potiental to be the next big thing in alternative.
I get that some people don't like them, but I dont like Jane's Addiction honestly, but I don't bust on them. --- Grow up, and don't comment until you actually have been thru puberty.

Jane's Addiction was buried in 1991 and none of the ex-members can't change that.
I've seen Jane's in 1991 in Düsseldorf/Germany, mindblowing ! I've seen them in 1997 in New York and in 2003 in Cologne/Germany - great shows but the last two shows can't be compared to the 1991 gig - cuz the spirit of Jane's was gone already.
The Panic Channel is The Panic Channel ... and they're suck big time. Isn't the singer an ex-member of W.A.S.P. ? LOL
I can't wait for Perry's new project end of this summer: Satellite Party !
Let's all hope it'll be cool !
Jane says: The Panic Channel sucks !
