Pearl Jam wants you to 'earn your ticket' | Reports from the line
I just spoke to someone on line to get Pearl Jam tickets outside Tower Records (4th & Broadway). He's got 12 hours to go. He's been there for 12 hours already. The first pair of people got there Thursday night. Right now (Monday @ noon) there's an estimated 300 people waiting, and Tower supposedly has 450 tickets total (though they won't tell anyone how many there actually are).
Numbered wristbands were given out to those already there. It guarantees they won't lose their place in line, BUT Tower is taking roll call once an hour. If you happen not to be on line when they call your number...they cross you off. The reason (they're giving): "Pearl Jam wants you to earn your ticket".

I agree, this is definately a record label move. That said, these faithful fans who ae willing to sit out there for 4 days just for a ticket to a 3 hour show at Irving Plaza should have really hought about this 15 years ago when they could have just joined the fan club and been set with seniority tickets for life. he truth is, fan club members were offered tickets to this show last week. I'm not sure who is actually in this line, but I wouldn't be shocked when these tickets are on ebay for a grand or two.

as for the fan club poster, only people with a MANHATTAN address received the offer, so those in brooklyn, lawn guyland, queens, jersey etc are out of luck even if their fan club number is much better than some of those receiving a ticket to the show

Um, this is EXACTLY a Pearl Jam move. Back in the day, you waited in line and you did roll call and if you missed roll call you lost your place. That is how it is supposed to work. Only lazy stupid hipsters hate earning anything. DO SOME FUCKING WORK

Tower employees are the ones doing the roll call? Why would they want the hassle of being the enforcers? Maybe they get some sort of reward (other than personal, wicked satisfaction) for every number they cross off the list?

last I checked this is supossed to be a rock show...since when this shit became a bliss moment?
if P.Jam really wanted to be all selective of their "earners" fans, they should do unanounced shows plus refuse vip area seating for rec. execs.
jeremy is spoken

perhaps, but how many of the people on line are ACTUAL fans? The MAJORITY of the line that camped out for Radiohead - Beacon Theatre tix were BUMS that scalpers put on the line. Is the situation the same for this????

Line had almost completely gone around the block when I passed by around 7:30p.

I really dig this idea. If I was in NYC I'd be there right now with a tent and a cooler full of red bull. For a band as big as PJ to give out almost all tickets to a tiny, intimate show like this is awesome. I agree with "stupid lazy hipsters"; it's about time people have to physically wait for tickets again. That was half the fun back in the old days.
But damn, I wish artists would look past NYC for once and pull this type of thing in a smaller town (*coughaustincough*).

Derek, I remember that when The Rolling Stones were rehearsing in Connecticut for one of their tours (I don't think it was for their current tour), they played an unannounced show in a small, local club.

Who the hell cares about Pearl Jam. They have not made a good album since Ten. Morons, let it go.

Rugby players spend a lot of time physical training Compared to other form of sports.I have read the
Rugby laws mentioned on this site. It's a gripping sport which targets the grip strength and the active mindedness of a player. American football and rugby league are also primarily collision sports, but their tackles tend to terminate much more quickly. For professional rugby, players are often chosen on the basis of their size and apparent strength and they develop the skill and power over the passage of time. In modern rugby considerable attention is given to fitness and aerobic conditioning as well as basic weight training.
