Richard Hawley | MP3s, will tour soon | Coles Corner

Coles Corner"DOWNLOAD: Coles Corner (MP3)

If you're a fan of Jens Lekman, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, and/or Roy Orbison, I urge you to (if you haven't already) check out Richard Hawley's latest album, Coles Corner. I know it came out last year, but still. Stylus gave it an A, Pitchfork an 8.1, and nobody below a 7.

I've been listening to it a lot lately, and now I'm finally as excited as Jerry that he's playing for free on July 28th at South Street Seaport (with Nicolai Dunger). AND according to Hawley himself, the show will be part of a U.S. tour that runs from July 25th to August 9th (stay tuned for exact dates).

Richard Hawley is fantastic, glad to see him featured here!

I'm seeing him here in London on May 18th, and anyone who can catch his free show in NYC should certainly do so!

Just a small point, but why not point out the hugely influential review Mojo gave Coles Corner right after it came out instead of linking to Pitchfork et. al.? It was that review more than any other that helped propel the album and gain Richard the attention he deserves. I know you're clearly a fan, but still.

You know, there's still an active and influential music press, and it still has a lot of power. In fact, I'm pretty willing to bet ypu first heard about Richard from that same review, no? The blogs don't deserve credit for everything.
