They Might be Giants 'Celebrate Brooklyn' | "Venue Songs" DVD, MP3s & stuff

"The new VENUE SONGS DVD started out as a way to pass the time on a tour bus. Instead of playing more cards or watching another Dave Chappelle rerun, They Might Be Giants challenged themselves to write an original song for every rock club they would be performing in: write it on the bus, rehearse it at sound check, and debut the song to the audience that night. As the tour rolled on, the effort seemed more than a little misguided--possibly disastrous--but happily the experiment paid off. The songs were consistently interesting, and the best of them were very fine indeed. The audience response was one of pure delight. A document had to be made. Returning home to Brooklyn, TMBG recorded the best of the songs. TMBG also collaborated with a small but determined army of highly creative visual artists to create videos for the songs. The Venue Songs DVD was born."
