I saw them tonight (5/2) and they rocked it as expected. I just have to say the crowd was full of assholes. I saw four fights. Everyone was shoving each other. It was a shame too, because it really fucked up what was otherwise a great show.

I agree with you Lee... I thought that they really put off an amazing show. There were a lot of jerks in our area too... but I kind of stopped noticing once the Yeah Yeah Yeahs took the stage. The openers rocked too... anyone have pics?

a truly great show.
karen is just an amazing performer.

but roseland is a terrible, terrible venue.
the security staff made me feel like i was in kindergarten... they even make you spit out your gum at the door?! WTF!

i will do anything to avoid roseland in the future.

i saw a guy spit his gum at the security guys face. needless to say he did not see the show. kudos yet bummer for him.

I thought that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert rocked. She has a perfect amount of femininity to make her sexy and fun to watch without making her too girlie. Great stage presence. The band also sounded tight. One little mess up at the end of "Warrior."

Thats my compliment and here is my complaint. The set plus encore was around an hour, maybe less. I was completely shocked when they went off so early...then we waited almost 10 minutes for an encore. They probably only played 40-45 minutes which was a huge dissapointment for a band that has 2 albums to play off of.

Also the Roseland Ballroom is not the best venue and the crowd last night kinda sucked.

Since youse guys mentioned the zero tolerance of chewing gum, I'm wondering if any of the performers smoked on stage.

It's so indie rock to treat security guards like shit when they're just doing their jobs- the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would have been so proud, because that's what indie rock is all about (also, the clothes).

Be sure to protest the security at the indie rock shows you attend in the future; otherwise, you're completely missing the entire point of the indie rock movement. You can't keep me safe from myself, motherfuckers!!!

is that a hint of sarcasm i detect?

Security at the roseland really isn'y that bad i have actually paid the bouncers to let me into sold out shows there and at under what face value was for tickets.

The show was so good, I may have sprained my pleasure center. Playing songs off the self-titled EP was cool. Karen's outfit was cool. Her "acting" during the transitions in Art Star was very amusing. Karen O clearly choreographs her performances to some extent, which is much appreciated. I'm sort of bored of seeing female vocalists phone in their "rocking out" poses out of a sense of obligation. I saw one argument break out in the crowd when some dude put his girlfriend on his shoulders during the encore and a chick directly behind him tried to pull her off. It wouldn't be Roseland without the retards!

Also didn't mind the gum bullshit since at least I wasn't stepping in any :)

Am I taking crazy pills?? or is everyone missing the fact that you paid to see a show that only lasted 40 minutes. Are you freakin serious...how can you say the show was that good...dont get me wrong, it had potential but it was a tease.

Please all you hipsters, go see a real show...see pearl jam on their new tour. Last tour i saw them they played for over 2 1/2 hours. NOW THATS A CONCERT!! They played opening band time.

Have you ever heard of the concept of quality vs. quantity, Mr. C.? While I'm not claiming that Yeah Yeah Yeahs' music is better than Pearl Jam's (or even that it's important to classify some music as better than other music, as opposed to seeking out that music which one may enjoy or otherwise appreciate more), I will say that if you think that anyone who doesn't want want to listen to Pearl Jam is missing a "real show," you should go fuck yourself.

good show, but there was definitely an element missing. no inbetween chatting, no crowd spitting. It felt a bit too overacted. The set was short, but beautifully played.
