Figurines

You've heard enough about Tapes 'n Tapes, Cold War Kids and Land of Talk. You've even heard about The Little Ones. I figured it was about time then that I properly mention Figurines who are coming all the way from Denmark to play upcoming shows with all four of them.

Figurines is an indie rock band from Denmark, formed in the mid-1990s. The band released their first EP, The Detour, in 2001 and their first full-length album, Shake A Mountain, in 2003. The band begin to receive national attention in Denmark around the time of the full-length release, and began touring Germany in 2004. Their second full-length, Skeleton, was released in 2005 on Danish label Morningside Records and German label Pop-U-Loud, and on US label The Control Group in 2006. [Wikipedia]

According to the Bowery Ballroom site, it appears that tickets for tomorrow's show are now back on sale.

The Figures may be potentially be the best band in the the lineup. They certaintly have the best recorded material amongst the three.

I'm getting a premonition that they'll have their gear stolen.

I was at the tnt show on Sunday and figurines were an assault on the ears in the worst kind of way.

when they came on I didn't believe they were serious, but I guess there is a niche for bland indie cock-rock. the lyrics were so poor, I'd almost forgive them for using english as a second language, but they are quite fluent.

The Tapes N Tapes, Cold War Kids, Figurines show last night was unbelievable! This is the best indie lineup outside of the festivals... I definite must see! T'NT are the best new band - period. Check my blog!

I really did not care for Figurines. For the first time ever, I resorted to shoving little wads of napkins in my ears to drown out the noise just so I would not have to give up my spot on the floor Sunday night. I almost wished I had the excuse of being a smoker just so I could step away from my friends for a bit. Cold War Kids and Tapes 'N Tapes did not need them in the lineup.

To put it in context, I thought the Towers of London were more entertaining than the Figurines, and I thought TOL was complete shit...

The Figurines might have been good on cd, but I'll never know now...

The Figurines CD is pretty good. Much different than their live show though, they use alot of different instruments and are alot more dynamic and interesting on record.

TnT was good; not amazing but good. They are NOT good enough to sell out two nights at the Bowery. I believed the hype before but now that I have seen them, I am definitely believing it less and less. The bass player had some timing issues during one song (he is the new guy). I think once they get some real confidence behind them (they seemed shaky through the whole thing) they could be great. Just not now.
