NYC rock club Rothko is closed for good

ROTHKO, NYC | SEPT 9, 2004 (more)
Rothko

Multiple sources agree: Rothko is closed for good.

HIP HOP KARAOKE NOW AT SOUTHPAW
but yea, let me get this out of the way now... THE NEXT HHK will be at Southpaw on June 24. geah. southpaw is one of my favorite music venues in all of new york city, and i'm very proud that we'll be bringing HHK there for the official after-party for the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival.

in other news, and as some of you might have heard, our venue, Rothko, is now closed for good. we were very sad to hear this, but remain very greatful to the venue, it's staff, and it's owner, Rory Maher, for the time they allowed us to host HHK there. we loved it.

That guy to the right of the manager looks like he's taking a whiz.

Wow, John Popper broke Rothko. So much for that gastric bypass surgery.

I'm sad to see any NYC rock venue go, but the idea of Rory Maher, a cheap bastard who regularly shorted his talent and his staff, losing some money here makes me feel warm inside.

Guys go to Brooklyn for cheap sex, not good music.

Sniff.

Southpaw show is an one-off and is a great location relative to the actual festival. We're still in discussions with some places for a regular spot and should have an answer shortly.
