Priestess & Man Man playing Siren | Hatred for Stars too?

Siren Festival Priestess and Man Man are playing the 2006 Village Voice Siren Festival.

Now let's recap - we've got...

1) Scissor Sisters
2) Stars
3) Tapes 'n Tapes
4) Art Brut
5) Dirty on Purpose
6) The Stills
7) Deadboy & The Elephantmen
8) The Rogers Sisters
9) The Cribs
10) Celebration
11) She Wants Revenge
12) Priestess
13) Man Man

AND, if a band that doesn't even seem to really exist called Hatred for Stars is to be believed, they're playing too (and that would complete the lineup).

14) Hatred for Stars???

I really hope their isn't a conflict in times for the following bands:

Stars
Tapes 'n Tapes
Art Brut
The Stills
Deadboy & The Elephantmen
The Cribs
Man Man

If there isn't, this will be one hell of day!

Those are two nice additions IMO.

While not a fan of most of the bands playing, kudos to the Voice for putting together such a wide variety of high-ish profile bands. For free, at that.

Okay, everyone: Most unlikely 14th Slot Band?

guns n roses

this officially CRUSHES last year's siren line-up. well done, village voice.

Posted by marty | June 6, 2006 1:46 PM

It would be nice to have one established band.

coney island hasn't seen a day like this since it became coney island. village voice and music blogs, thank you for bringing us all the bands you write about. (although those bands are usually not that good, but little are great) if i see art brut scheduling one more concert, i am going to puke. (same might go for tapes 'n tapes also)

Posted by cruelite | June 6, 2006 1:50 PM

celebration is the only band worth seeing, sad.

Posted by bob ojeda | June 6, 2006 1:56 PM

i would slap my own mother in excitment if my morning jacket was playing.

Posted by ian | June 6, 2006 1:56 PM

"i would slap my own mother in excitment"

- Awesome.

Yeah. Accidentally omitted Celebration. They would round out my list of 8.

Posted by Chris | June 6, 2006 2:04 PM

Stars on the mainstage, Hatred for Stars on the stillwell stage (simultaneously).

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 2:14 PM

I like Celebration, Man Man, and Art Brut but they've all had free or cheap shows in Williamsburg in the past few months.
I really couldn't justify schlepping down to Coney Island on what is sure to be a scorching day (I went in 2001, 2002, and 2005) for this lineup of bands....however if someone gets me a VIP situation where I can sit in airconditioned tents and eat catered BBQ, I will take it all back in two seconds.

^sex^

Hey Camille - Guess I'll finally get to see Art Brut. I'll probably end up loving them. ; )

Posted by Chris | June 6, 2006 2:24 PM

best most random lineup evs

Posted by gator face | June 6, 2006 2:27 PM

Could this mystery band be We Are Scientists again? Alright, they can come but they better play some Art Brut covers this time.

Posted by camille remarkable | June 6, 2006 2:33 PM

its we are scientists playing with morningwood

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 2:43 PM

am i the only one who thinks this lineup is utter shit?

Posted by sam | June 6, 2006 2:49 PM

I'm definitely going, I cannot wait to see Stars and Art Brut... but if these three bands are really the last to be announced, that is dissapointing. I thought some big names would be announced at the very end. Nothing will beat the lineups in 2003 and 2004!

"i would slap my own mother in excitment if my morning jacket was playing."
-Ian

This quote had to be written again.

how can you hate this lineup?

stop listening to modern music if you hate it.

last years lineup SUCKED.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 3:03 PM

Priestess is a great addition. They'll put to shame all other bands on the bill not named Scissor Sisters.

Posted by Glenn | June 6, 2006 3:06 PM

"stop listening to modern music if you hate it."

Do you consider Deadboy & The Elephantmen modern music or a boring rehash of old rock?

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 3:45 PM

a little of both i'd venture....but the point that i meant to make was that if you're gonna bitch about the good indie bands out there right now, it's probably time to just stop listening altogether

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 3:48 PM

sam hates everything

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 3:52 PM

the point i was trying to make was that if you're gonna bitch about some of the best indie bands out there right now, you should probably just give up on music altogether

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2006 3:55 PM

i'm actually excited about priestess getting added to the line-up. i think diversity is good on shows like this...

Posted by mick | June 6, 2006 4:29 PM

Pretty dissapointing so far, folks. As much as I love Art Brut, is it really worth the drive from DC? Come on, the last few years were stellar. Q and Not U, The Dears, Radio 4, Ted Leo, Modest Mouse...
what happened. I could give a crap about the Scissor Sisters kitchy nonsense.

Posted by K | June 6, 2006 5:31 PM

The final band is Serena Maneesh according to today VV. IMO this lineup has some great bands, but all of these bands have played a lot around the NYC area in the past few months. But I am not complaining it is free.

Posted by danfun | June 6, 2006 5:42 PM

I love the Priestess song. Just one thing, a propos of nothing: I'm very angry that whole foods made their scones smaller!! Wtf?? Fascists!!

Posted by yippeee | June 6, 2006 8:51 PM

Better than last year? Aw come on.. Saul Williams. His performance was one that made a difference, or at least attempted to reach the youth that seemed unaware of the defunct state of politics in the US. Even up against a semipolitical band such as Q and not U, he made a clear point. This year looks really fun, at least. Priestess in the heat of July will shred.

Posted by OceanWomb | June 6, 2006 10:04 PM

Did you seriously just put Priestess and scones in the same paragraph? LOL
