Prince played Bryant Park, PLAYING BUTTER TONIGHT

Prince @ Bryant Park The excitement and energy was evident as fans danced, sang and enjoyed themselves for Prince's free concert in Bryant Park on "Good Morning America". Prince's guitar rang through the crowd as he performed a song from his new album "3121" and an old favorite "Let's Go Crazy". The usually reclusive musician who is known for shunning the media and staying away from mainstream events has been making lots of public appearances lately. He was joined on the stage by prominent drummer Sheila E. and singer Tamar who performed one of her songs from her new album "Milk and Honey". [ABC NEWS]

$121.03 ?? thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard, they dont even comment on the price like saying its for a good cause or its for a once in a lifetime chance to see prince up close. what an absolute douche. someone get me a ticket.

Anyone ever been to this club? What's its capacity?

Posted by curious | June 16, 2006 11:54 AM

Its not a club - its a restaurant - very very small space... I dont know where the stage will be. What is the password to get onto the ticketing site???

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2006 12:04 PM

sold out

Posted by Anonymous | June 16, 2006 12:08 PM

theres no password for the ticketing site...unless you paid for fan club dues and picked one.

At least Prince decided $312.10 was too exorbitant. Prince feels your financial pain.

Posted by J | June 16, 2006 1:05 PM

The guitar didn't ring through the crowd at for those of us in Bryant Park, the sound was horrible... prince seemed to be rocking it though, hopefully it came across better on TV.

the price is steep, but really not that bad to see Prince in such an intimate venue.. most artists on his level are charging way more than that for shows at 20,000 seat arenas..

how is it possible for him to place butter (I am assuming downstairs?) it is literally the size of my kitchen and has no stage

Prince is a great artist. His live shows are unreal. If you have not seen him live, you have missed a treat.

Posted by darkshadow | June 17, 2006 12:48 AM

Prince's live shows are amazing!! His ticket prices are so high because he's playing such small crappy venues.....and because there are a few hard cores out there who continue to buy them at the high prices, most of us will only have the joy of seeing him one time. It sucks because when he performed in Vegas a couple years ago he proved that he can still sell out a 20,000 seat venue 2 nights in a row. I think he's trying to make a statement that shows us he is only in it for the music.

My bad.....sorry, I had some computer issues

Whoever posted this on this site is an idiot...!! That was something he was doing for the current [prior to 6/16] NPG Music Club members **only**; NOT a public event.

Join when he isn't doing a show; not just so you can score tickets & block out those who have been members for years. Members hate people like that.

I was lucky; I went to Butter & was up front again with the man himself, but dumb crap like posting this publicly is probably why people who deserved to go couldn't get a ticket.

People who have posted here don't even get the ticket price references.. no surprise there... LOL. The new CD is named 3121 (thirty-one, twenty-one), so....: Tamar ($31.21 various US cities), Las Vegas during Memorial Day Weekend ($121.03 for Morris Day & the Time with special guests Prince and Larry Graham & GCS on Friday @ Club Rio; and $312.01 for each of his shows Sat & Sun @ Club 3121) & Butter NYC ($121.03).

The Vegas shows (I also attended) were priced as such because 1) it was a small venue, 2) in Las Vegas (an expensive city) *and* 3) during a holiday weekend. Not to mention, he's an independent.. HE'S got to pay: a crew, singers, dancers, musicians, security, etc., etc. Yeah, the Vegas price was a little high -- but no worse than when hotels and airlines jack up the prices for holidays.. Anybody complain about Madonna's $700 tix prices for the last tour in 2004 when Prince was charging, on average, only $55-80 per ticket--including a CD?! How about the $1500 for Barbra Streisand a few yrs before that -?

If you don't know isht, you don't have isht to say.

No shit! The blog entry (which was posted on June 16, too late for any alleged non-fans to join NPGMC in order to take advantage of this) clearly stated that.

I was there, right in front of Prince, no stage, just two feet between him and I. It was the show of a lifetime. I would have paid more. Three hours, yes, three hours of non-stop of hard-core funk and rock. He tore the roof off the place. Only around 100 tickets sold plus some celebties. It was like having Prince play for you in your living-room.

Hi!

My name is Candida Johnson. I love prince very much and there was an advertisement in the Las Vegas paper that he was playing at the Rio. When I got there, they said he left town a month ago. I was extremely disappointed. What are his tour dates? Will he ever come back to Las Vegas again?

I want to get into touch with prince or e-mail him.

Sincerely,

Candida Johnson

It would be nice if this site could monitor the comments and maybe only let them appear three times in a row instead of 6 times in a row.
But then someone would actually have to be paying attention.
