oh come on the malkie record was good! i mean, if you like stuff like that. but i do. so i love it.

and i've been telling everybody that a Pavement reunion is coming since i heard about the encore with SY - all i've gotten were 'you're crazy' looks. would SM actually play with Spiral though?

Oh. Come. On.

The latest Malkmus record was amazing! I still listen to it all the time. I think it's equal to a lot of his Pavement work.

face the truth is the shit, as were self-titled and pig lib, if you're a pavement fan i don't know how you could possibly dislike those records. i think it's about time he got the band back together though.

If Pavement got back together, it'd easily be one of the saddest days of my music life. Pavement is history, and history belongs in the past. And p.s., anyone who thinks "Face the Truth" is shit has got serious earwax issues.

Face the Truth features the best use of the word "shitpil" as a lyric I've ever heard.

Their show at Bonnaroo was fantastic -- 80 minutes of sonic bliss. The Malkmus encore was amazing, yes, but they were so tight on their own that it would've been a terrific show had they come out just themselves for the encore. My only wish is to find a live recording of the show -- anyone know of any?

Pavement COULD get together and really kick it. They aren't TOO old yet to fall prey to the Westerbergisation of their vitality. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mat's but the days of what made them awesome are gone forever.
Pavement, I believe still have a decent shot at it.

i blame the pixies for all this reunion shit. sure, they deserve to make some $$$ after their day but its gotten way overdone.

pixies, dinosaur jr (who fucking hated each other), mission of burma, gang of four, iggy and the stooges, replacements (in the studio)...i can go on all day long.

besides possibly mission of burma who actually have a decent new album, these other reunions have been ultra disappointing for me.

ive seen pavement 5x or so and am very content that they put it to rest.

Pavement: not that great live

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2006 2:25 PM

Pavement was one of the most up-and-down live bands I've ever seen, but I always got the feeling that they played exactly how they wanted to play on any given day (no one could play as terribly as they did at my local Lollapalooza by accident). However, I saw them later on, probably after "Brighten the Corners," and they were fantastic - Malko's voice was strong, they were having a good time, and they sounded tight as hell (and not just by Pavement standards).
