Suzanne Vega @ Ground Zero, 7 WTC, NYC | pics

Suzanne Vega stands out as the most memorable of the seven or so performers I saw at the morbid daytime concert held at Ground Zero in May. I figured she might not play My Nake is Luca or Tom's Diner, but in fact they comprised 2/3 of her short set list - it was awesome. To balance it out she played a third song that was written only one day earlier (about NYC being a woman or something like that). She didn't even know the words yet - note the dude holding up the lyrics. Also note the Steven Van Zandt-lookin mo-fo helping her out on bass guitar.

She is a wonderful performer. I saw her a couple of years ago at the Bowery Ballroom and it was a low-key, enjoyable show.
